When fabulous women get together….
Last Saturday I had the joy of hosting a style event at the stunning Jigsaw boutique in Guildford. Many guests were my fabulous clients, others I met for the first time, and are now firmly part of the ‘Maggie Loves’ gang. You are very welcome, and you are in excellent company.
The day itself was described as “ as “brilliant fun”, “eye-opening”, “relaxed”, and “supportive”. I couldn’t agree more! The reason I share all this is because it really wasn’t “all about me”. On the contrary: the clothing, the fantastic Jigsaw team and the guests made it a wonderful experience.
The day left me inspired and determined to create more “Maggie Loves” events for you and here are just 3 reasons why.
Great women create great energy
Many guests had never met before, yet the support given to each other whilst trying on clothes was wonderful. There were lots of suggestions and honest feedback by everyone, not to mention genuine encouragement “Oh my god you look amazing” being the most popular, which is completely understandable when you check out Jigsaw’s collection.
Stepping out of your comfort zone brings fabulous results
I curated a rail of my favourite pieces to illustrate the versatility of Jigsaw’s new season collection and suggestions on how to combine key outfits. Many women, particularly when shopping alone, gravitate to one particular style. Saturday was a fabulous opportunity for women to ‘play’ ; to explore new cuts and styles and gain honest feedback. It opened up a whole new ‘style’ world where guests were amazed at how transformative clothing can be. A lesson for everyone – never rely on “hanger appeal” – try things on, be more open - and prepare to be surprised.
Buy less, buy quality and you’ll never regret it
I think it’s fair to say we all have too much “stuff” particularly when it comes to clothing, handbags and shoes. Some guests fell in love with ‘high-end’ pieces but were not in a position to invest immediately. My suggestion to them and to you is to start your wish list and save up, rather than buying a poor quality alternative. When you do purchase your piece, you will treasure it all the more and wear it endlessly.
Here is a small selection of choices made on the day – you have great taste ladies.
The perfect white shirt – cool, effortless and chic. I’m delighted so many of you now have this in your wardrobe. Perfect with jeans, linen wide leg trousers or over dresses – it’s the gift that keeps on giving.
There was so much love for Jigsaw’s beautiful sunglasses. My personal favourites were the Maldon – but I was seriously tempted to buy more than one pair. All offer great UV protection and come in a variety of colours. We all agreed on the day - a great pair of sunglasses makes everything look cooler and more sophisticated!
I’m not sure this website image truly shows how cool these trousers are. I wish I’d taken photos of the women who bought them - they looked stunning. With a simple vest top or cropped knit – with heels or flats – they are super flattering and cut to perfection.
And finally, this dress, so not your average slip dress, which women discovered on the day. It is such a clever design. The material is heavy satin which means it drapes rather than clings, the ‘liquid khaki’ colour is a fabulous neutral for summer and winter and the straps allow you to wear a bra. I wore it all day and it felt so luxurious and comfortable. Try it with a belted white shirt; with an oversized blazer and heels; or with a chunky jumper and boots when autumn arrives. The style options are endless.
