Update from London Fashion Week Spring/Summer 16
Following on from last week’s Style Post we know stripes, bare shoulders and block heels will be popular for spring/summer but what else did I discover at London Fashion Week? Inspired by the designers and hitting the high-street now, here’s what you can expect..
“Beautiful Botanicals” (or ‘floral’ as I like to call it!)
Yes the floral motif is back in a big way for spring. However if you’re not a fan of pretty ditzy print you needn’t worry as you’ll see lots of stunning graphic and oversized florals. In my opinion this is the way to do them – they give you a cooler, more edgy look. Check out these two great examples from Hobbs.
“New Romance” (or ‘ruffles and lace’ as I like to call it!)
Runways were awash with delicate, feminine looks: ruffles, silk and lace. Whilst the trend is beautiful in pale shades it is equally stunning in bolder neutrals. Here are just two examples from Whistles and Reiss which show a more ‘toughened up’ way to wear the trend. And let’s not forget the ultimate ruffle shirt from yours truly!
“In the Pink” (or ‘pink’ as I like to call it!)
When it comes to pink, think chic tailoring like a great trouser suit, coat or sleeveless waistcoat. If all pink is just too much for you try a fabulous pair of tie-up shoes with your favourite jeans and t-shirt. As with all trends – it’s about making it your own.
Have a great week-end and feel free to share this post.
