The one about…New Year Resolutions 2021…

Well, here we all are, at the end of our first week of 2021. It’s clearly not a typical January but, as my trainer, and great mate, Jem often tells me during sessions “you’ve got this”! Many of you will have made New Year Resolutions, whilst others will be avoiding them. I’ve never been big on denying myself treats in January: the odd Cointreau and dark chocolate fix is firmly staying with me through-out January. However, here are 5 things I am planning to do that are small, achievable and will make me feel better. I hope by sharing them they inspire you to improve your January, your way. Enjoy!

The one about health….

I am starting and ending my day with a walk. Whilst other daily exercise may fluctuate, book-marking the beginning and end of each day with a walk is going to be a priority. I’ll do it listening to a podcast, calling a mate or, god forbid, being alone with my thoughts (hopefully mates and podcasts will always be available)!

The one about diet…

I’ve never been a fan of a strict detox (particularly in January). However, I have decided that whatever I fancy to eat or drink - whether it’s a piece of cake or a salad (perhaps less of the salad!) - it will be of great quality and will therefore taste delicious and satisfy me. I’m also attempting to create some new (easy) signature dishes as I fear my ‘Five Spice Lamb’ is losing its impact after 15 years!

The one about reading…

When on holiday I can read a book in a matter of days, and I love it. Yet somehow, I cannot get into the habit of reading regularly at home. Well not this year. I’ve decided to give Netflix a rest and read at least one book a month. Here’s my list for January – March 2020 : What I Know For Sure; The Little Big Things; Three Women; and The Artist’s Way.

The one about indulging…

Do you have beautiful, expensive, scented candles you have yet to use? Luxurious body creams or beautiful bath products that look fabulous on bathroom shelves but remain unopened? Clothing or jewellery that you love but save for special occasions? Come on…use them, wear them, and enjoy them – what are you waiting for? I’ve started using these beautiful bath salts in the evening which were a Christmas gift – absolute bliss!

The one about underwear….

I have always believed great underwear is the key to feeling your best in clothing (whatever that clothing may be). So, whilst it may feel odd suggesting it now, why not treat yourself to some great underwear in January (check out the sales for great buys). Choose a stunning colour that will feel decedent and frivolous and see what it does for you. Here’s a particular favourite of mine I found (on sale) – what are you waiting for?

You’re very welcome
