The challenges of summer dressing…
Those of you who know me well, know I’ve never been a huge fan of summer dressing. I have got better with the help of key pieces, a great fake tan, and an amazing trainer (yes you Jem Scragg) but deep down I’ll always be an autumn/winter girl. Many of you, like me, struggle in 30-degree heat – especially when working in the city. This Style Post is dedicated to you. I hope it helps you to feel cool and chic when temperatures soar. Enjoy!
Top 3 facial products
The Face Tan When fake tanning my body, I’m a real fan of Gatineau. However, I have discovered Skinny Tan Oil (hate the name but love the results) which I use on my face. It is so natural and feels light and hydrating on the skin. This is the lightest colour which is perfect if you are very pale.
The SPF : As a teenager I rarely used a high sun-factor. Now, I’m a Factor 50 girl all the way. This is by far the best SPF (and I’ve tried many). It absorbs quickly and leaves a light glow to the skin. The search for the best SPF50 is officially over. You’re welcome.
The Tinted Skincare : I rarely use a foundation in summer but I do like to even out my skin tone and find this Trinny BFF gives me a light, barely-there coverage. It comes in 5 shades and the Trinny girls are great at helping you select the right one (for me it’s light-medium).
Top 3 linen pieces
The dress: This beauty from Wolf & Badger ticks all the boxes: the chic colour, the cool asymmetric hemline, and the super-flattering sleeve. Job done!
The waistcoat: This stunning long-line waistcoat will work with everything from wide leg trousers, to maxi-skirts to denim when it’s a little cooler.
The maxi skirt : This skirt is so versatile – team (yes ‘team’!) with a red t-shirt, with a black fitted vest top or a white linen shirt. So effortless, and so damn cool.
Top 3 footwear options
The strappy flat : Whistles footwear has always been impressive, and these minimal flats are a great example. I love the contrast of slim straps with a thicker sole - super cool and guarantees comfort.
The leather slider : These timeless John Lewis sliders are made in Brazil from supple leather which make them super comfortable in the heat. They are cleverly designed with soft crisscross straps which ensure they look way more expensive than the price tag.
The ballet flat : Many ballet flats can be uncomfortable and lack foot support. This beautiful cream pair from Massimo are different. They have a flexible foam insole designed for comfort and a back strap to ensure they feel secure. All this AND they’re super chic. Job done!
I hope this Style Post inspires you to stay cool, comfortable and stylish in the heat and if you need more advice, I am always here to help you, whatever the weather.
You're very welcome
Have a great week-end and feel free to share this post.
