The Autumn/Winter Trend Report (Part 1)

The Autumn/Winter Trend Report (Part 1)

Autumn/Winter 2022 is upon us and with it comes beautiful, over the top fashion shows to excite and inspire us. I was thrilled to see new collections on the catwalk and am equally thrilled that, in real life, people are keen to ‘get dressed again’. However, the season is not necessarily about buying an entirely new wardrobe – or purchasing that ‘must have’ fashion trend that will soon be replaced by another. It is about assessing what you have and seeing what additions you can make to breathe new life into your favourite pieces.

With this in mind – sit back, and enjoy Part 1 and do contact me if you are not excited about dressing for Autumn/Winter – allow me to change your mind and help you look and feel amazing. It’s what I love to do.

Catwalk Inspiration – Embracing Caramel Shades

There is something rich and beautiful about this colour and clearly Michael Kors, Jil Sander and Max Mara agree as they showcased these stunning pieces on the runway. As always you need to find the right shade to suit you. Check out my previous style post on colour advice - there’s a shade to suit everyone.

Style Tip: You don’t need to do ‘full on caramel’ . Take one piece and add black, pink, pale blue, white or burgundy and see it come to life.

Catwalk Inspiration - Luxurious Leather

Each Autumn/Winter leather returns to the catwalk. Saint Laurent, Celine and Todds showcased jackets, skirts, dresses, and trousers. Whilst designers may tweak shapes and colours, the pieces retain a cool, edgy feel. When it comes to my own wardrobe a leather skirt, jacket and trousers are my most worn pieces and remain key wardrobe staples. They’re practically vintage! That’s the great thing about leather – it ages beautifully.

Style Tip: mix leather with chunky knitwear, cotton shirts or t-shirts for an effortless ‘high-low’ look. Don’t forget you can use my Baukjen discount code *MKS15 on all collections including their beautiful leather pieces – enjoy.

Catwalk Inspiration - The Comfortable Heel

We are spoilt for choice this season when it comes to footwear. So much so, I am focusing this week on platform, block heels and will save flats for Part 2.

There is nothing I love better than a comfortable high heel (yes there is such a thing). Platforms, block heels and Mary Jane styles offer both. Designers such as Miu Miu, Louis Vuitton, and Prada led the way and the high-street has followed with these beautiful versions.

Style Tip: These styles look amazing with midi dresses, culottes, and cuffed jeans.

I hope this week’s Style Post has given you inspiration to look out for those pieces that will add a fresh look to your wardrobe this season.

Next week I’ll be showing you how to wear the biggest colour trend this season, together with my pick of the best suiting and loafers – that don’t make you look like a child heading for school! Don’t miss it – you know I hate it when you do!

You’re very welcome

Maggie Killick

Have a great week-end and feel free to share this post.
