Styling your way through Christmas Events…

It’s fast approaching isn’t it? - The season where we need to catch up with absolutely everyone before 25th December. Whether it’s a black tie do, a cocktail party, a fancy dinner or a girls night on the town, Christmas is the time we attempt to fit it all in. It is also the time when shops are filled with little black dresses, sequins and lace. Whilst there is nothing wrong with any of those options, it’s also fine not to go there!

So, rather than panic buying “party outfits” (let’s face it we’ve all done it) why not take a look at key pieces you may already have in your wardrobe that you can re-work for the Christmas season. Here are my top 5 ‘go to’ staples together with some style inspiration on how to wear them by day and night.

The Velvet Blazer

I wear my velvet jacket with everything: jeans and white shirt, cocktail dresses, cigarette and/or wide leg trousers. I usually recommend black, navy or burgundy to ensure versatility in your wardrobe.

The White shirt

I’ve lost count of the number of white shirts I own. I appreciate many women avoid them (mainly due to ironing) but just look how stylish and versatile they are. Nothing beats a white shirt with denim or leather trousers for a sexy, effortless look. When it comes to an evening event - a white shirt worn with wide leg trousers or an evening skirt is pure, understated glamour.

The Leather Skirt

The leather skirt has become a real wardrobe staple for me (and many of my fabulous clients). Whether you opt for pleated, pencil or A-line – it never lets you down. During the day team with an oversized knit, roll-neck or shirt – very chic and cool; and when it comes to evening, try a silk blouse or cami-top and add your velvet blazer – perfect.

The Statement Heel

Whether you opt for a bold, bright, bejewelled, or print, a statement shoe will give your simplest outfit a fabulous twist.

Don’t forget statement shoes also work with jeans, a chunky knit and a bit of attitude, so no saving them for special occasions – life’s too short.

A Red Lip

And the final one – a red lip of course. There’s a colour to suit everyone – you just need to try them out, pick your favourite and you’ll never regret it. If new to wearing red check out Mac and you’ll be spoilt for choice.

Here’s to styling your way through any Christmas event – Enjoy!

Have a great week-end and feel free to share this post.
