Sharing a talented designer with you

One of the great pleasures of my job is meeting talented people who inspire me. Just this week I did exactly that and I feel the need to share her with you. Her name is Charlotte Zimbehl and she is a hugely passionate and gifted coat designer. Now I appreciate you may not be necessarily thinking about winter coats just yet(!) but you may think again when you see Charlotte’s collections – I certainly did.

There are many reasons to rave about Charlotte’s collection (and none involve bribery I promise you!). Each piece is made in London, using the finest luxury fabrics and made by exceptionally skilled garment makers which resonates with my own collection. The fact Charlotte’s pieces are effortlessly chic, ooze confidence and feel incredible make her brand a perfect match for Maggie Killick Style.

Here are just 3 of the 10 pieces I tried on (all in the name of research you understand). I immediately fell in love with all of them and here’s why.

Let’s face it there are hundreds of trench coats out there. However this is quite different. Not only does it feel beautiful but it’s ankle-length which gives it a quirky edge. The cut and proportions are so clever it gives you a beautiful, elegant shape (including a tiny waist). I can see myself wearing it with everything from jeans and converse to a statement evening dress. Only question is which colour?

As many of you will know I love a sleeveless waistcoat (almost as much as a great white shirt). Charlotte’s version is stunning. For starters it comes in one of my favourite colour combinations (ie. navy with black leather top collar and belt). This again adds real interest and toughens up a classic piece. Worn with anything from jeans and t-shirt to my wide leg trousers and simple knit – so versatile and so chic.

This coat is not only a stunning colour but the shape is slightly oversized giving it a cool edgy look. I tried the mustard version and was surprised and delighted at how flattering the colour was. I wore it with my black cigarette trousers and simple black sleeveless top – giving the outfit a stunning splash of colour.

Charlotte is about to head off to Paris to show her collection which I’m confident will be met with huge excitement. We may well be running some women’s events shortly where you will have the opportunity to view both our collections “up close and personal”. I will keep you posted on dates and venue details. In the meantime remember – every woman deserves at least one stunning coat.

Have a great week-end and feel free to share this post.
