Quality Pieces Without The Designer Price-Tag

Quality Pieces Without The Designer Price-Tag

When it comes to clothing, I’m a great believe in buying the best quality you can afford. I remember, from an early age, saving up for a favourite piece, the excitement of buying it and how special it felt when I wore it. I still believe buying cheap can be a false economy “buy cheap buy twice” is a phrase I often use during style workshops. This doesn’t mean I have a designer wardrobe, or that I only style my clients in designer pieces. What I do pride myself on is finding items that have a designer look and feel without the price-tag. Recently I found some exceptional pieces on the high street that are beautifully made and I'm so delighted to share them with you.

The Premium Coat

At first glance this coat could be mistaken for Joseph or Max Mara. Well I’m delighted to tell you this stunning double-faced coat comes from Uniqlo and is available in a variety of colours. It has a beautiful sheen to it and the sleeves are lined giving it a real premium feel. I would recommend sizing up and wearing with everything from cool suiting to a silk evening dress. Thank you to Clare Waight Keller (Uniqlo’s new Creative Director) - I cannot wait to see the brand’s future with this talented designer at the helm.

The Minimal Bucket Bag

I rarely buy non-leather handbags. There are often great styles on the high-street, but they are ruined by poor stitching, over-embellished logos/brand names, or cheap quality lining. However, this week I picked up this beauty from Zara – so minimal, so chic and so beautifully constructed. The gloss black finish gives it a super expensive feel (much more so than the brown matte version).

Mixed-Metal Jewellery

As many of you know, I’m a silver jewellery girl but recently decided to experiment with mixing metals. Finding quality costume jewellery on the high-street can be tricky. It often tarnishes, lacks polish or the gold colour is too ‘brassy’ . However, this wrap ring from Jigsaw is beautiful. With its clean lines and simple design, it has an expensive feel and will work beautifully with mixed bangles.

Finishing Touches – the slim belt

As I always say to clients, ‘the devil is in the detail’. This belt, with its elongated buckle will make everything look more expensive. Worn with wide leg trousers, jeans, over a blazer or slip dress – it oozes style. I love the light gold tone against chocolate brown – giving it added sophistication.

Winter White (without the panic)!

There is something super chic and elegant about wearing white in winter. However, there’s also a tendency to avoid it for obvious practical reasons! If you are tempted opt for less expensive pieces so you feel more relaxed when party season kicks in. This is a fabulous option from H&M – a brand that has some great inexpensive jumpers that wear well. One of my favourite black jumpers (similar to this) is from H&M and is still going strong 4 years on.

You're very welcome

Have a great week-end and feel free to share this post.
