New Year Inspiration and a gift for you

New Year Inspiration and a gift for you

We’re 10 days in….how is it for you? Are you full of excitement and vitality for January or are you struggling to even get started? Due to a flu bug, I have had to delay my new year until now. As I write this, I’m feeling much better and have high hopes for 2025. However, I believe in making small changes: ones that don’t seem like hard work, ones that bring pleasure. Those are the ones we need to focus on because those are the ones that will stick.

So here are mine – they are small, achievable and will make me feel better. I hope by sharing them they inspire you to find yours. Enjoy!

Reading a book a month

I love reading on holiday – I can read a book in 3 days. Yet when it comes to reading at home, I just can’t seem to get into a routine. This year will be different – I’m determined. Here’s my January choice ready and waiting : The Let Them Theory. I’m a huge fan of Mel Robbins and cannot wait: “Two simple words that will change how you think about your entire life” – bring it on!

Wearing more of my wardrobe

I am great at helping my clients do this – yet when it comes to me, I often spend much of my week in a ‘uniform’ of trousers (wide leg, ankle grazers, or boyfriend jeans). On NYE I got my legs out (see above) and realised how much I loved it! Coincidentally, I also received this gift from a great mate. I’ve been using it for a few days, applying it before a bath and scrubbing it off with a dry brush – it’s amazing. It leaves your legs feeling so soft and silky (thanks Linky). I appreciate this may not be the season for bare legs so I am planning to treat myself to some fabulous tights from my favourite brand - I’ll report back.

Listening to a New Podcast

I’m a huge fan of podcasts. I have recommended many on the Style Post : Off Air, The Mel Robbins Podcast, Style DNA, High Performance, How to Fail etc. My latest is Begin Again with Davina McCall. It’s about embracing change, overcoming adversity and starting fresh. What I love about this podcast (apart from Davina obviously) is it doesn’t just focus on success stories - she embraces the messy, difficult parts of life, encouraging listeners to find strength in the process of starting again. If you’re looking for a podcast that inspires personal growth and transformation, Begin Again is a perfect choice to kick start your year.

Becoming More Creative

One of my favourite gifts this year was receiving a membership to the V&A (thank you Killick). I cannot tell you how excited I am. I’m so looking forward to visiting for exhibitions (without booking), attending talks, courses, and most importantly being inspired just by being there. I have a feeling it will become my new office (hopefully I’ll meet you there soon).

And this one is for you…

I meet so many people who struggle with their style. Whether it’s due to lack of time, body confidence, or simply feeling unsure about what suits them. If this resonates with you, make 2025 the year you love how you look and feel about your style. Simply click ‘here’ for a consultation. It’s free, it’s 30 minutes and it will make a huge difference to how you start the year. Sometimes all it takes is a Stylist to offer simple advice to kick start you – I am that Stylist and it would be my pleasure.

Here’s to whatever you decide to do to improve your year: big or small - I hope 2025 is a fabulous one for you.

You’re very welcome

Maggie Killick

Have a great week-end and feel free to share this post.
