New Year – bring on the new experiences…

Happy New Year - I hope 2019 is an amazing one for each and every one of you. January is a strange time. For many it’s a gloomy month: too dark, too cold and too many impossible resolutions. For others it’s all about ‘starting over’ with an excitement for what’s to come. I do love January but I’m not a big ‘resolution’ fan. I know it sounds corny but I am a great believer in being kind to yourself in January and rather than focussing on giving up stuff (booze, carbs, wearing sequins!) I prefer to attempt to try new things (Pilates in case you’re interested!), and find new places to visit, particularly in London. So, without further ado, let me introduce you to the hidden gem at Kings Cross…

Coal Drops Yard

Oh boy do I love this place: the fabulous independent stores, the cool architecture and the sheer quirkiness of it. It’s been described as “a place where art, commerce and culture come together” - I couldn’t agree more. There are so many places to visit (too many to mention in one Style Post) but here were 3 stores that I particularly loved – not to mention the cool independent restaurants and bars.

Caravane

Caravane is a beautiful French interiors store I fell in love with. We are in the process of decorating our home, but to be honest, even if we weren’t this store makes you want to (immediately)! It is filled with exquisite furniture and accessories – not to mention fantastic staff who are happy to help.

Maya Magal

Whilst I love a statement shoe or skirt, when it comes to jewellery I’m a fan of simple, understated pieces that you can add to and play with to create individual looks. If this appeals to you – pay a visit to Maya Magal’s jewellery store. Their pieces are so striking in their simplicity and all handmade in the workshop.

White shirt optional (who am I kidding?)

Wolf and Badger

I am always excited to meet new designers and visit independent stores that offer something a little different. Wolf and Badger does just that. It is the home of independent fashion, accessory, homeware and beauty brands all under one roof. The three-storey store is heaven and did I mention there’s a restaurant, florist and beauty counter – seriously, what’s not to love?

Coal Drops Yard offers an experience that goes beyond simply shopping, why not check it out as part of your 2019 Resolutions - I guarantee it will brighten up a gloomy January.

Have a great week-end and feel free to share this post.
