Maggie Recommends…belting your suit blazer
I’ve spoken, many times, about my love of a suit blazer.I love it so much I even designed one and own it in grey, navy and black.I also have versions from Zara, Massimo Dutti, Arket and Amanda Wakeley.I love how they bring a cool, masculine edge to any outfit.I’ve worn mine oversized with a simple t-shirt and jeans; over my shoulders with an evening dress (not the most practical!); and with suit trousers and nothing underneath. This season I’m experimenting with the belted blazer – care to join me?
The trick with this look is to (a) unbutton your jacket and wrap it around you; and (b) know which size belt to go for. I always advise playing around with belt styles to find the perfect one for your shape. However, as a rule, if you try a wide belt and it looks like there is no space between your bust and hips, you are short-waisted (you are me!). Therefore, a skinny belt will be much better for you as it will balance your proportions. If you are long-waisted (or have a defined waist), a wider belt will work better. Here is a selection of some of my favourites from Amanda Wakeley, Net-a-porter, John Lewis, Reiss and Zara.
You’re very welcome
