Maggie Loves…The Spitalfields Candle Co.

This week’s Style Post is dedicated to shining a light (see what I did there?) on a small business that I love. It may not be clothing but it looks super stylish in any room. I know, when it comes to candles, there is so much choice out there but here’s why I believe this small English company, based in the heart of London, is my ultimate choice.

• The scent: each of these beautiful hand-poured candles are made in small batches and only use the finest aromatherapy-grade essential oils (and nothing else).
• The experience: lighting a Spitalfields Candle feels luxurious as it gently fills the room with a beautiful, authentic smell unlike many overpowering, synthetic perfumed candles.
• The packaging: so simple in design but as I always say, less is more when it comes to style.

Like all great businesses it began small with Philippa making candles, in her kitchen, for friends. Reputation grew quickly as did the business and yet the company’s guiding principle remains: “To make a 100% natural soy candle that shines more brightly than the others". It certainly does which is why it’s an absolute pleasure to share the brand with you.

As well as candles, products now include room sprays, diffusers, and apothecary jars as well as a super-stylish match bottle. Here is a small selection of the gorgeous range available – I’ve marked my particular favourites which take pride of place in our home: lounge (orange & clove apothecary jar); bathroom (chamomile & lavender); and office (grapefruit, bergamot & lime) – all accessorised with the match bottle – I told you I was a fan!
