What we loved about London Fashion Week-end Spring/Summer 2015
The fashion pack were out in force at Somerset House last week. Together with Abigail, (a ‘fashion journalist in the making) we took ourselves off to meet them. The day was manic but great fun. It began with breakfast (well a girl’s got to eat) although, judging by the catwalk, apparently not! This was followed by industry talks, designer shopping and catwalk shows. It was a busy and hectic day and here are some of our best bits!
Reviewing the Trend Catwalk Show put together beautifully by THE OUTNET.com (little sister to Net-a-Porter.com). If you love a designer bargain, check them out, they have up to 80% off designer pieces which include Stella McCartney, M Missoni and their own private label, Iris & Ink. www.theoutnet.com
The key trends they showcased were: monochrome, florals, metallics and 70’s. Here are some key looks from the catwalk for inspiration. Look out for my high-street alternatives that give a nod to the trends but remain effortless, stylish and affordable.
Listening to the ultra-chic fashion designer, Amanda Wakeley, who talked through her stunning collection which looked so stylish (see below) it made me want to wear ‘head-to-toe white’ immediately! She also spoke about key staples for women (white shirt, suit jacket, wide leg trousers to name a few) – a woman after my own heart.
The insightful industry talk “From Kitchen Table to World Domination” by Julie Deane (founder of the Cambridge Satchel Company). From its humble beginnings: Julie, her Mum, a £600 budget and her need to pay her children’s school fees; to its phenomenal success today: a dedicated team of 70 with a £10m turnover per year – Julie spoke of her drive, her passion, her highs & lows and offered excellent advice to all businesswomen. Abigail and I checked out the pop-up store (well it would have been rude not to!) and fell in love with her new ‘tote’ designs below. The fact all designs can be embossed with a symbol or letters adds a very special touch to a beautifully crafted bag.
Have a great week-end and feel free to share this post.
