A STYLIST’S VIEW ON SALE SHOPPING…

A STYLIST’S VIEW ON SALE SHOPPING…

You will have noticed that sales have already begun, and we all love a bargain don’t we? With this in mind I thought I’d share some wisdom (well, I say wisdom?) on savvy sale shopping together with a selection of worthy sale investments. First the advice…

Don’t buy anything you don’t love

We’ve all done it, purchased items simply because they’re on sale. Whilst the temptation to grab a bargain may be huge, think hard about whether you would buy the item if it was full price. If not, step away and save your money to spend on a new season piece.

Buy items that work with your current wardrobe

If you can’t see yourself wearing the item with at least 3 pieces in your wardrobe, ask yourself how versatile it’ll be. The most stylish women I know constantly re-work their wardrobe.

Look at designer brands you may have thought too expensive

Designer items you may feel are out of your price range become more attainable at this time of year. Rather than 10% – 20% discounts, many designers offer up to 40 - 70% discount for quality items you’ll love.

Keep in mind what is missing or needs replacing in your wardrobe

Is your wardrobe in need of a fabulous new pair of jeans, a gorgeous handbag or a great pair of boots? The key to successful sale shopping is to stay focused and disciplined.

Ok sermon over…here are just a few sale items I have spotted (all at least 40% off) together with my reasons for recommending them to you. Enjoy finding yours!

The Versatile Dress

Wear now with some beautiful strappy sandals for a “do”, with plimsoles or sliders for day time and in winter with chunky boots and a jumper. It also has an under slip which would look beautiful with an oversized blazer or long-line cardigan. So many options – a piece that will work for you in so many ways.

The Investment boots

Admitidly no one is thinking of long suede boots when the sun is shining. However these are Stuart Weizman boots which are by far the best long boots for Autumn/Winter. They last forever (mine are 6 years old), fit tight to the leg (and stay there!) and come in a comfortable, walkable heel height. They also usually come with a £700 price tag – currently 50% off. You can thank me in September!

The perfect handbag

Whether you’re looking to upgrade your cross-body bag or invest in something larger (yes please!) these stunning bags by Coach are beautifully made and incredibly versatile. Both double as a top handle bag (two for the price of one – you’re welcome!). They also come in a variety of colours but for me burgundy and taupe are fantastic neutral colours for all seasons.

Beauty Brands to stock up on

Sales are a great time to try out new brands of make-up and beauty products. A beautiful Tom Ford lipstick or Charlotte Tilbury palette – gorgeous to give or receive.

Stunning swimwear

I never buy swimwear full price. There are so many styles available at the moment, whether you want a full swim-suit, bikini or the in-between ‘tankini’. Also remember you can mix and match when shopping for bikinis to create great colour combinations.

Happy shopping and remember, only buy what you love and if nothing catches your eye in the sales – save for that beautiful piece that you love instead.

You’re very welcome

Have a great week-end and feel free to share this post.
