A few of my favourite things this summer…
I’ll be taking a short break from the Style Post in August to allow me to process and develop new ideas, especially for you. I feel very fortunate that you have stayed loyal to the Style Post, and I hope to make it bigger and better for autumn/winter 2022. Until then, I thought I’d share a “few of my favourite things” I’ve been using, wearing, listening to and attempting this summer that are bringing me joy.
The older I’ve become the more I love a body oil and this one is my current favourite (a birthday gift - thank you Karen). It smells so beautiful, absorbs quickly, and feels so silky and smooth on your skin. Trust me - it’s the perfect product for summer.
I bought this fabulous linen shirt a while ago and have worn it endlessly in this heat. Linen looks and feels so cool – just own the creases – it’s all part of the look! If this version isn’t for you (there are very few sizes left), try Uniglo or M&S. Also don’t forget the men’s section – I often buy linen shirts and cashmere jumpers from Men’s stores.
I have officially ruined my nails with too many shellac manicures, so this summer I am keeping my nails short (I don’t have much choice!) and clear of polish. I’ve been using this treatment to undo the damage and it really works. Whether it’s your nails, your feet, your skin, or your hair that you’ve neglected, now’s the time to rectify it.
You all know I have a bit of crush on Elizabeth Day. I loved her latest novel, Magpie and am a regular listener of her ‘How to Fail podcast’. She now has a new one which she co-hosts with her best friend and psychotherapist, aptly entitled ‘Best Friend Therapy’ . Topics include jealousy, people-pleasing, competition etc. It’s fascinating and insightful – why not give it a try.
A margarita is my cocktail of choice - I’m obsessed (in a good way!) with this drink. Luckily so many of my favourite people are too. I’ve tested out quite a few and am determined to master making my own . All in the name of friendship - Let’s see!
I hope whatever you plan to do for the rest of August you get to relax, indulge in some treats, take some time for yourself and those you love to hang out with. Enjoy it all - you’ve earned it.
See you in September – and thank you for supporting Maggie Killick Style
Have a great week-end and feel free to share this post.
