What’s New for Autumn/Winter 21-22?

What’s New for Autumn/Winter 21-22?

It’s the question I am asked most at this time of year? The designers have showcased their collections and models have ‘strutted their stuff’ to reveal predictions for what we’ll love this season. However, catwalk looks can be demoralising, unrealistic and, quite frankly, MAD! They rarely translate into the ‘real world’. I guess that’s not their job – it’s mine.

The purpose of the Style Post is to inspire you rather than dictate ‘fast fashion’ looks for you. I’ve sifted through the latest trends to offer up my favourite looks of the season. They are classic trends that designers have reinvented to give them a modern twist. Enjoy!

Long-line and Oversized Knitwear

With so many options this season, from long dresses to oversized scarves and chunky jumpers, you’ll be spoilt for choice. Catwalk inspiration came from Chloe, Gabrielle Hearst and The Row.

This led to beautiful high-street interpretations from the likes of Winser London who continue to offer this beautiful, recycled cashmere poncho (in black, grey and cream). I invested in it last year and absolutely adore its versatility and the edge it gives to any outfit. If you are tempted use Maggie10 at the checkout to receive 10% discount. It’s a piece I guarantee you’ll love for years to come.

Whistles added a flattering v-neck and collar to their classic knitted dress, which I love, and then there’s this beautiful funnel neck jumper from And Other Stories which is on my autumn wish list. It is cut to perfection and has wide cuffs to give it a designer feel. It comes in black and green but there’s something so chic about cream isn’t there?

Silk, Metallic and Tulle

It’s time to get dressed up, get out and start living your best life! Designers such as Gucci, Stella McCartney and Anna Sui were thrilled to showcase their ‘out out’ pieces on the catwalk.

Whilst I may not be reaching for my sequinned jumpsuit any time soon, I am a huge fan of mixing silk, tulle and sequins with everyday wardrobe staples. Care to join?

Check out this beautiful tulle skirt from Hush worn with a chunky knit and plimsoles; or this stunning blue silk slip dress from Me & Em: beautiful for the evening with a suit jacket but equally works with an oversized knit and some biker boots. Or, just add a hint of glitz in your footwear and team with your favourite jeans and shirt – works every time.

The Ultimate Trench

The trench remains an all-time classic – it returns season after season and this year is no different. Designers such as Burberry, Rokh and Max Mara led the way and the high-street followed with superb options in different colourways (if beige isn’t your colour of choice), lengths and materials.

Amongst the high-street versions below is this stunning navy version from Cos. It’s one of my absolute favourites. It drapes so beautifully, giving a slightly oversized masculine feel and the navy shade is super flattering. There’s a true classic from Whistles which is just effortless and All Saints have designed this stunning 3 in 1 trench (who knew?). The top layer can be worn as a cropped jacket, whilst the trench can be worn sleeveless – now that’s what I call versatile.

If you would like more on trends of the season – you’re in luck - I’ll be delivering Part 2 next week. In the meantime, remember: if you love a trend, wear it and enjoy it, and you will most certainly look great in it. If you don’t love it – step away, It’s the secret to looking fabulous.

You’re very welcome

Maggie Killick

Have a great week-end and feel free to share this post.
