SPRING/SUMMER 2020 STYLE REPORT (PART 2)

SPRING/SUMMER 2020 STYLE REPORT (PART 2)

Wow, what a difference a week makes! Whilst we may all be giving the high-street a wide berth for now, I figure we need some distraction from the overwhelming and depressing headlines. In an attempt to “keep calm and carry on” why not take a moment, sit back and read Part 2 of the spring/summer trends for 2020. If you missed Part 1 – check it out here

THE SOPHISTICATED SHORT SUIT

Catwalk Inspiration

Putting a twist on the classic suit, designers from Max Mara, Valentino and Ryan Roche embraced the shorts suit for spring/summer. Perhaps a hot pink version may be a little ‘full on’ for most of us, however subtle grey or camel is super sophisticated way to wear this stunning trend (minus the socks!).

High-Street Interpretation

You will see some beautiful versions coming through to the high-street. In my view, opt for longer length shorts with a slightly oversized blazer. Team the suit with a vest top and sandals for daytime, a silk shirt and heels for a more corporate style and a halter-neck and espadrilles for a perfect summer look.

THE ‘MARY JANE’ SHOE OF CHOICE

Catwalk Inspiration

Move over the ‘naked sandal’ and bring on the ‘Mary Jane’ shoe. This retro style took centre stage on the catwalk. Whilst a classic style, it was reimagined for the season in beautiful satin, patent and embellishment. The likes of Chanel, Mark Jacobs and Carolina Herrera all show-cased stunning versions leading the way for beautiful high-street alternatives.

High-Street Interpretation

Worn to dress up your jeans and favourite shirt or for the office with a stunning dress, these are the shoes that will take you anywhere. You’ll find a variety of heel heights from block to kitten heel and stiletto. They are also, in my opinion, the most beautiful flats for comfort and style.

THE ‘NON MICRO’ CLUTCH

Ok, I’ll admit there were plenty of micro bags on the catwalk for spring/summer, but seriously, what use are they? Thankfully there were also stunning oversized styles, including these large clutch bags. Why not add a bold colour as seen here by Dries van Noten or opt for classic neutrals in tan or black as chosen by Chanel and Tod’s.

High-Street Interpretation

The high-street has stunning versions to choose from, for all budgets. This beautiful brown option from Zara would look fabulous with an all-white outfit; or opt for snakeskin which is a fantastic neutral to wear with black & white, bright shades or your favourite denim. Alternatively, opt for this gunmetal grey version from Reiss. It is beautiful for an evening event but equally cool with jeans and a white t-shirt. Need more convincing regarding this bag choice? You can fit more than a lipstick in any of them - always a bonus!

Sending huge amounts of love – stay safe (and stylish obviously).
