Maggie Loves….Spring 2024 Accessories

Firstly, thank you for all your messages regarding the Catwalk Trend Style Post; It means so much to me when I receive your comments and the fact many of you regard it as your Friday ‘style fix’ brings me so much joy.

As promised, I am dedicating this week’s post to Spring Accessories. I love a great accessory – it is the easiest way to update, add individuality, and freshen up your simplest outfit. So, if you need inspiration for a new handbag, a piece of jewellery, a belt or sunglasses, here is a selection from catwalk inspiration to high-street interpretation. Enjoy!

Handbags : Catwalk Inspiration

Many designers treated handbags as an extension of jewellery, showcasing gold and silver chain handles as seen on the Givenchy catwalk. As always, basket bags are everywhere for Spring, but this season woven, loose weave styles were included on the catwalk. Finally, when it comes to colour, a ‘pop of red’ took centre stage (I could not be happier). Why not use it to inject a hit of colour to all white, denim or tan outfits this season and see the difference it makes?

Footwear : Catwalk Inspiration

Whilst ballet pumps continue to be popular, this season designers, including Valentino, offered the ‘kitten heel’ but in micro form. These barely qualify as a heel which makes them both super chic and comfortable. Massimo Dutti has embraced this trend and offer a fabulous selection for the high-street. Alternatively, flip flops and embellished sliders were styled with cool tailoring to give a super relaxed silhouette. And for those who feel they need some height – fear not – the platform heel is still available. Why not try them in pastel or metallic - stunning, and less heavy than black, for the season.

Jewellery, Belts and Sunglasses : Catwalk Inspiration

Chunky jewellery is everywhere this season including cuffs, necklaces and the chandelier-style earings . Even the sleekest belt had stunning hardwear incorporated as shown here on the Tom Ford runway. And no catwalk is complete without some stunning sunglasses. A pair of shades is probably the easiest accessory to give you a super stylish look without the price tag. With all these accessories, remember:

  • the chandelier-style earrings (sizing is your preference!) look fabulous worn with your most casual outfit;
  • a sleek belt can cinch the waist of your favourite shirt or dress. If you don’t have a defined waist – fear not - try wearing your belt loosely on your hips;
  • a great pair of sunglasses is clearly a personal choice and boy do you have choice: from the modern Cos x Linda Farrow collaboration to the classic, retro Ray Bans - super cool and an essential for all seasons.

Enjoy your Easter break – why not accessorise the hell out of it?

You're very welcome
