If your wardrobe was a shop – would you shop there?

If your wardrobe was a shop – would you shop there?

It’s a question I often ask at my style workshops and the reply is usually “No, I’d love to throw it all out and start again”. Rather than taking this drastic measure, the answer may be to simply to buy some space-saving items. You’ll be surprised how these small things will make a huge difference. It’s such a therapeutic exercise and it may help you fall back in love with what you already own.

Everyone’s storage space will be different but here are a few items I use to help me – I hope they do the same for you.

Jewellery

Is your jewellery kept in individual boxes, tucked away somewhere out of sight? Thought so! Enjoy re-discovering and wearing those beautiful pieces. Here are 3 of my favourite ways to display mine (all inexpensive, yet stylish).

Handbags

Handbags take up room, often room we don’t’ have. Mine are either clutch bags or totes, oh, and a few cross-body bags – because I strive to be the woman who can make one work! I’ve taken to using hooks or baskets to store mine. However, when it comes to large tote bags – I store on top or bottom shelf of my wardrobe (sometimes in dust bags, depending on brand).

Drawer Dividers

Drawer dividers are a genius idea. Once you’ve used them you’ll wonder how you ever managed without them. Whether you need to organise socks, underwear, bras – build your own combination and enjoy the sense of order! And if you still have no room – call me!

Storing Shoes/Boots

Finally, I always keep shoes in boxes, with a photo on the front (please don’t judge me!). I appreciate you need time to do this but honestly, the time it saves you getting ready will be worth it.

It has been scientifically proven that creating order within your surroundings frees your mind, gives you a sense of calm and helps you focus. So whilst this may not have been the most stylish Style Post, I hope it inspires you to create your own beautiful space, your way.

You’re very welcome
