Jaeger brings you “tomorrow’s vintage”

Friday, October 8, 2021
This Week I was thrilled to see that Jaeger officially relaunched by joining the M&S family. It marks a new chapter for Jaeger, a brand steeped in style and heritage, and known for its bold and confident designs for over 137 years. This is such a smart move for M&S who, in terms of their clothing, has needed help for several years now. Jaeger’s quality, design, and innovation, using British fabrics and manufacturers is what M&S have lacked for some time.

What’s New for Autumn/Winter 21-22?

Friday, September 17, 2021

Fresh starts and new beginnings…

Friday, September 10, 2021
September is my favourite month of the year. For me, and hopefully many of you, it signifies new beginnings, fresh starts and adopting new habits. Somehow, they seem easier to keep than those we attempt in January.

Back to Work…. Let’s do this!

Friday, September 3, 2021
Many people I know are getting ready for a return to the office. It may not be 5 days a week but it’s at least 3 and I, for one, am thrilled. It’s time to put the loungewear away, step into some fabulous shoes and get dressed again. It doesn’t need to be uncomfortable, it doesn’t need to cost a fortune or become a time-consuming process. Trust me, it just takes a little thought, and a little guidance from yours truly.

Time to indulge and look after yourself…

Friday, August 13, 2021
For many people I know, this year’s summer holiday will look very different. Many of us (myself included) won’t be heading off for a 10-day summer break. However, I still intend to slow things down and carve out some time away from my laptop to rest, read, and enjoy the summer sunshine (fingers crossed)! I hope this Style Post inspires you to do the same and reminds you to take time to step back, look after yourself and indulge in something you love. This has been the strangest of years and yet, here we all are, so let’s make sure we enjoy it.

How to dress for a heatwave….

Friday, July 23, 2021
As I write this it’s 28 degrees and I am at my desk with widows open and a fan blowing (I love you James Dyson). I’m wearing very little (no need to see that!) and am seriously contemplating shaving my head! Blimey it’s hot and, like many women I know, I’m not great in the heat. The problem with summer dressing is it exposes areas of our bodies we may not feel confident about: upper arms, tummies, knees, legs…the list goes on. If this resonates with you, focus on the parts you do like –and if you can’t find any, you need to be kinder to yourself and look again, OR call me immediately! Before I share some of my favourite ‘heatwave’ pieces, here are just some of my style solutions to help you navigate this tricky but beautiful weather:

One pair of shoes…3 ways

Thursday, June 24, 2021
I spotted these Zara beauties last week. Whilst they are inexpensive (£29.99), they are incredibly comfortable and look super-stylish. I was with a client at the time and her immediate reaction was “I love them BUT what have I got to go with them?” Sometimes we fail to see the versatility of shoes we own. You don’t always need a special occasion to wear them, you don’t always need something to match (in fact I strongly suggest you don’t!), you just need to love wearing them. Here are 3 options (I have more if you’re interested!) of how I would style these fabulous mules. I appreciate you may not all love this particular pair (although…why not?) but I hope this post inspires you to see what great shoes you have lurking in your wardrobe: dust them off and start wearing them with your favourite outfits. Enjoy!

A STYLIST’S VIEW ON SALE SHOPPING…

Friday, June 11, 2021

Small touches that make a huge difference…

Friday, June 4, 2021
When it comes to styling, we often make life difficult for ourselves. We assume we need that fabulous piece or those designer shoes when, really all it takes is a well-chosen accessory to give the outfit a stunning edge. This Style Post is dedicated to those summer accessories that elevate the simplest outfit. I hope it inspires you to take a fresh look at the accessories you own and reinvent your outfits with them. If you are planning to treat yourself, all the accessories I’ve chosen are inexpensive (but don’t look it) and come in many different colourways – the choice is yours. Enjoy!

Those throw on pieces we all need this summer….

Friday, May 28, 2021
Much as I love the joy of putting an outfit together, I do also love having throw-on pieces, especially during summer: those pieces that make us feel pulled together, even when we’re not! On my quest to find you these, I headed to Uniqlo. This is a store I often visit in winter to stock up on cashmere and merino wool jumpers (from the Men’s Department) as the quality, price-point and fit is amazing. I was thrilled when I saw Uniqlo’s Spring/Summer collection. They are offering stunning shades of linen, a variety of dresses with AND without sleeves (keeping everyone happy) and their price point is exceptional. I wanted to highlight pieces which I know can work for everyone.

Colour Inspiration and Guidance…

Friday, May 14, 2021
How are you with colour? Do you know what shades suit you, can you colour clash with confidence or do you stay firmly in the dark? As most of you know I’m not a huge one for colour and patterns personally but I do understand the joy of colour, the difference it can make, the impact it can have on one’s mood and the mood of others.

Women I know who have had their “colours done” fall into two camps: those who have found it a revelation and have never worn black since; and those, who found it rather constricting sticking to exact shades whether they liked them or not! If you are still unsure about colour, here is a quick colour guide lesson. For those who are clear on what colours suit them, skip straight to the end, and see my colour inspiration. I hope this Style Post inspires you to find your favourite colours with confidence. Enjoy!

A beautiful designer piece at 80% off

Friday, April 23, 2021
As many of you will know I have a huge style crush on Amanda Wakeley OBE. It’s Ok, she knows this – and so far, she is fine with it! I have had the pleasure of hosting many a “Maggie Loves” event with her at her flagship Mayfair store and hope to return very soon. I believe everyone needs an Amanda Wakeley piece in their wardrobe. Trust me, it will be the item you return to again and again to feel effortless and cool. If you have yet to invest in an Amanda Wakeley piece, there has never been a better time. There is currently 80% off past season styles and believe me, whatever the season, Amanda’s collections are stunning. Here are a few of my favourites with tips on how to make them work for you.

Are you disappointed with the post-lockdown you?

Thursday, April 15, 2021
I think we all hoped, in different ways, to emerge from lockdown, upgraded versions of ourselves. Whether we wanted to lose weight, learn a new skill, get more organised or re-invent your style, apparently, we had the time to do it! We seem to have forgotten it was a strange, stressful, emotional time which left us both exhausted and demotivated. So, what do we do now?

Fall back in love with your feet…

Friday, April 2, 2021
I’m assuming many of you will have spent the last year in trainers, plimsoles or slippers. Well I’ve been right there with you (apart from the slippers!). However, now Spring is finally here and we’re all venturing out again, there is no better time to reacquaint yourself with your favourite sandals.

Maggie Loves…Etsy

Friday, March 26, 2021
How many of you are fans of Etsy? Whilst I love to support the high street, I am also keen to share great independent brands with you. Etsy showcases talented designers creating beautiful and unique items which are often difficult to find. Just recently I have been shopping on the site and thought I’d share my items with you. I hope they inspire you to browse Etsy next time you are looking for an individual stylish piece.

Inject a new piece to give your wardrobe a fresh start…

Friday, March 19, 2021
How are you feeling about your current wardrobe? Despite having worn very little of it in the last year, you may still be craving something new: not because you NEED it but to mark the fresh start we all deserve. Whether it’s a new bag (remember those), a new skirt (hello waist-down dressing!) or a beautiful pair of heels (oh come on – you know you want to): whatever it is that will give you a lift, this one’s for you.

As someone who avoids ‘high fashion’ trends I thought I’d share 3 trends that have been given a new twist yet remain forever cool and accessible. Many are on my wish list and may become part of yours. If so, I hope they inject some ‘newness’ into your current wardrobe to give it a lift – Enjoy!

Are you ready to get dressed again?

Friday, March 12, 2021
Well, it’s been almost a year…how are you feeling about the thought of “real life” shopping again? April 12 is the date. It won’t surprise you to know I cannot wait to browse rails of clothing, to touch fabrics and try on clothing rather than gauge how an item will look based on a woman half my age and double my height! Many of my clients feel the same. They cannot wait to get back out, dress up and enjoy their clothes again. However, some women I know are less excited and more anxious: the need to dress properly for work again (rather than from the waist up!); the need to wear proper shoes; the need to get back into clothes when carrying ‘lockdown weight’: some or all of this fills them with dread. I am making it my mission to help fabulous women like you feel better about getting back out there.

3 Things to share that bring comfort…

Friday, February 12, 2021
First and foremost, I want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has sent emails, cards, flowers, voice-notes etc. regarding my Dad’s sudden passing. Your words of comfort, advice on grief and your love and support have been incredible. I will be forever grateful for your kindness at such a difficult time.

Recent weeks have been spent with family coming to terms with our loss and wishing desperately that my Dad could be back with us. Thanks to my understanding clients, my work-life has taken a back seat and I have spent little time thinking about style and beauty. However, I do want to share, relatively small things, that are making me feel a little better in the hope they may do the same for you whatever you may be struggling with right now. Enjoy!

The one about…New Year Resolutions 2021…

Friday, January 8, 2021
Well, here we all are, at the end of our first week of 2021. It’s clearly not a typical January but, as my trainer, and great mate, Jem often tells me during sessions “you’ve got this”! Many of you will have made New Year Resolutions, whilst others will be avoiding them. I’ve never been big on denying myself treats in January: the odd Cointreau and dark chocolate fix is firmly staying with me through-out January. However, here are 5 things I am planning to do that are small, achievable and will make me feel better. I hope by sharing them they inspire you to improve your January, your way. Enjoy!

BLACK FRIDAY – RESIST THE PANIC BUY

Thursday, November 26, 2020
Many brands are choosing to opt out of Black Friday this year and I can see why. I’ve never been a fan of fast fashion. I have always tried to adhere to buying less and buying better. Don’t get me wrong, I understand the need for a fashion fix every now and then but if we really think about the clothes we love they tend to be those that we have invested in: those quality pieces that are cut beautifully, make us feel fabulous and never let us down.

When it comes to Autumn/Winter accessories, the oversized scarf ticks so many boxes:

It makes any outfit cool;
It adds a pop of colour when you feel like it;
It allows you to add texture and/or mix prints in an easy way;
It’s your go-to when it’s too hot for a coat but too cold for just a jacket;
It’s versatile as there are numerous ways to style it (see below);
It’s comfortable AND super stylish which is often difficult to find;
It always fits!

Wrap up in style this Autumn/Winter…

Friday, October 2, 2020
Many of us have a particular weakness when it comes to shopping. Apparently the top 3 are bags, shoes, and jeans. For me – it’s my love of coats. I own quite a few – ok I own a lot! Many were bought years ago and yet I still adore them today. For me, a great coat can instantly change an outfit. Wear the simplest outfit, throw on a great coat and you are transformed. Whether you opt for a bold colour (why the hell not?) a statement print (tartan is a personal favourite of mine); a luxurious texture (hello – faux fur) or settle for a classic, effortless style – you are in for a treat with this post. I have checked out the best and am delighted to share my personal favourites with you. Enjoy!

THE FABRIC THAT REMAINS AN ICONIC TREND

Friday, September 25, 2020
Each season fashion designers showcase new trends. Amongst those trends you can guarantee leather remains a firm favourite. Why? Because it’s cool, timeless, and so damn versatile. I love the way it transforms the simplest piece and injects an ‘edginess’ like no other fabric.
Predictably, leather was showcased by great designers this season including Dior, Miu Miu and Valentino. Where designers lead, high street brands follow and this season it has excelled in offering beautiful leather pieces to include trousers, jackets, coats, shirts, dresses, and skirts. Whilst leather is considered an investment buy, if you work on the ‘cost per wear’ of a leather piece you will soon realise the investment makes sense.

Q: What is comfortable, universally flattering and endlessly versatile?

Back to school…but not as we know it

Friday, September 11, 2020
September is my favourite month. I love the change in weather and the feeling of a fresh start and new beginnings. I remember the excitement of going back to school in September: a new winter coat, school bag, shoes, and stationery - pure joy. As a grown-up (well, kind of!) I usually spend early September visiting stores, attending fashion shows, hosting ‘Maggie Loves’ events with my favourite brands and favourite people. COVID 19 has impacted on so much of what I do but it hasn’t taken away my optimism my for the new season, so bring it on.

My new style staple…worn 3 ways

Friday, August 28, 2020
Since lockdown 3 things have happened to me. Now these may not be major, but, nevertheless I feel the need to share. Firstly, I’ve upped my skincare routine (more of that in a future post); secondly, I’ve started cooking more meals (no-one needs to know more about that!); and thirdly, I understand the need for joggers: not ‘track-suit’ joggers you understand (I haven’t gone completely mad!) but loose fitting, gathered at the ankle, silky joggers that can be dressed up or down depending on my mood. For me, they have become a great alternative to boyfriend jeans and chinos.

The 3 Style Rules I continually break….

Friday, August 21, 2020
Are you someone who follows ‘style rules’? There are numerous TV shows, style books and magazine articles dedicated to them. Initially they seem helpful but often they can end up confusing and paralysing you when it comes to dressing. I constantly remind my clients that it’s OK to break some style rules, in fact it is often when people look their most stylish. I would encourage you all to trust your instinct more, wear what you love and resist the urge to follow strict rules that stifle one’s individual style choices.

What to wear when you don’t want to wear anything…

Friday, August 14, 2020
As I write this, it’s 34 degrees and I’m wearing very little! It’s fair to say I’m not great in hot weather, especially when there’s no pool or margarita nearby!

I don’t know anyone who isn’t struggling to get dressed in this heat. This short post (who has the energy to read a long one?) is dedicated to long, cool, dresses that you can simply “waft” around in whilst remaining stylish…

Maggie Recommends….The Effortless AW Blouse

Tuesday, August 4, 2020
Regular readers will know how much I love Amanda Wakeley (both the woman and the brand). Her clothing is a constant inspiration to me and the pieces I own, are the ones I return to again and again when I want to feel confident, effortless, and cool. Whilst many pieces may be investment buys – the fact that I wear them on repeat and that they create those feelings make them worth every penny

Getting back into heels….it’s more comfortable than you think

Friday, July 31, 2020
For most of us, footwear has taken a back seat lately, with plimsoles/trainers becoming the most practical and popular choice. Whilst I love a great pair of plimsoles, once you’re in the habit of wearing them, the thought of wearing a heel seems unappealing. So, for those of you who have asked for advice on stylish footwear (specifically with a heel) and for those of you who haven’t but may fancy a change…this one’s for you – enjoy!

Summer dresses with so much versatility…

During the summer there is nothing lovelier (and easier) than throwing on a floaty dress. Find the right one and there is little else required to make the look effortless and cool. When advising clients, I always aim to find them a dress that has versatility: a dress that works for day and evening; that can take them to a relaxed BBQ as well as a more formal occasion; that can be styled for unexpected days and different seasons.

Maggie Recommends – Cos Silver Jewellery

Friday, July 3, 2020
Since its launch in 2007, I have been a huge fan of Cos. The beauty of the brand lies in its simplicity. Its sculptural silhouettes and cool, Scandi-style continue to inspire me, each season. Whilst many of you may be familiar with their clothing, you may not be aware of their stunning jewellery range which launched in March. This is its first collection featuring recycled sterling silver.

The shops are open…The sales are on

Friday, June 26, 2020
The world is divided between those who love trawling through the sales, and those who avoid sale shopping at all costs. However, I don’t know anyone who doesn’t love a true bargain. The trick is knowing a “true” bargain. For me, it’s that beautiful piece that is out of my price-range, the piece I have fallen in love with but cannot justify the price tag – and then I spot it at 50% off. Love that!

MY “ GO-TO” TOP FOR SUMMER

Friday, June 19, 2020
When it comes to ‘tops’ in my wardrobe, the majority of them are either shirts or t-shirts. This may sound a little dull but what I love about them is their versatility: the way they can work with absolutely everything in my wardrobe. Each summer I treat myself to a few white t-shirts in varying sizes and shapes. This Style Post is dedicated to my favourite white t-shirt looks, together tips on how to wear them. I hope they inspire you to wear yours in different ways or to treat yourself to a new one for the season ahead.

MKS DISCOUNT CODES…You deserve a treat

Friday, June 12, 2020
With shops re-opening next week and many people retuning to work, it feels like we are slowly getting back to some form of normality! During lock-down many people have struggled with being alone or finding a routine that works for them. Others have thrived on pressing ‘pause’ and getting organised whether it be financially, physically, or domestically. I, like many, have been a mix of the two. Some days I am full of positivity and vitality but there are odd days when I simply lose my mojo and feel slightly lost. Luckily for me, this doesn’t last long but I do appreciate, for many, it lingers.

"Maggie Loves" On-Line Event…. You’re Invited

Friday, May 29, 2020
Well, here we are at the end of week 10. Whilst I am keeping sane with the help of Killick, exercise, telephone calls, G&Ts and truffle oil crisps (so addictive), I would give them all up (except Killick obviously!) to physically see friends and family. Where work is concerned, I so miss shopping with clients and watching their facial expressions when trying on clothing I have selected. First comes the look of shock (oh ye of little faith!); followed by the sassy look of confidence as they check themselves out from all angles (love that); and then comes the beaming smile and often a scream of delight (that’s me too!). The realisation that they can look so incredible is pure joy to witness.

Maggie Loves….simple leather sandals

Wednesday, May 20, 2020
As many of you know, I love a heel: wedge, block, stiletto - you name it – I own them all! However, during these last two months I have spent all my time in my favourite Selected trainers. Whilst I miss my heels, the upside is my feet have never looked better. I’ve used the following products to help soften, file and paint them. They are now ready for a great pair of sandals and these beautiful leather flats from Top Shop are my current favourites.

LOCK-DOWN FAVOURITES I WEAR ON REPEAT…

Friday, May 15, 2020
Do you miss getting dressed up? I know it seems trivial in the grand scheme of things but, for me and many people I know, it has a massive impact on mood, productivity, and energy. It’s not that I want to swan around in a ball-gown and heels (well, not often!) but I do want to feel good and get away from pjs, gym kit and joggers. So, I thought I’d share with you my ‘lock-down staples’: those versatile pieces that make me feel good and that I wear on repeat. You’ll see below how I mix and match these staples to create other looks. This is the key to creating a versatile wardrobe rather than one crammed with clothing you only wear in one way. I hope this inspires you to look at how you outfit build to create looks you love.

Maggie Wears…the Camisole Top

Friday, May 8, 2020
Is it underwear? Maybe, but who cares, I’ve always loved a camisole top. This particular one is from Zara (last season) but I own several from Massimo Dutti (in bold orange) to M&S (in french navy). The beauty of the camisole top is its versatility. Here are 3 of my favourite ways to wear one:

Maggie Recommends…Tas Kyprianou

Friday, April 24, 2020
One thing I have noticed, particularly, during the last month, is just how multi-talented people are. I seem to see more and more people sharing new skills, skills I never knew they had. One such person is a guy I’ve known for some time now, Tas Kyprianou. What I first noticed about him (well, apart from his shorts – but that’s a whole other Style Post!) was his upbeat, positive attitude which is infectious. He introduced himself as a photographer but what I didn’t know, until now, is that he is an incredible pen and ink illustrator. Having seen his work, I am delighted to share it with you, together with the piece I have commissioned Tas to create which costs just £20. This is a piece I feel we could all do with right now.

Products, Podcasts, Clothing…to help you through

Friday, April 17, 2020
Well, we’ve made it to the end of week 4. I’m sure, like me, you’ve had good days, bad days and mad days. Everyone says we will learn huge lessons from our time. I’m sure we will, although mine may not include (as I initially thought) Spanish, Yoga and cooking! I do, however, continue to appreciate certain ‘small things’ that now bring me far more joy than ever before. I’m sharing them in this Post in the hope they may do the same for you.

Maggie Recommends…Wearing Wakeley

Friday, April 10, 2020
As you all know, I am a huge fan of Amanda Wakeley OBE. Having met and worked with her and the team on many occasions, I know several things about her. In no particular order: she’s super-talented, kind, funny, effortlessly cool AND the Queen of Cashmere. It took me some time to appreciate the joy of wearing cashmere. Yes, it is expensive but, my goodness, the way it looks and feels is priceless. If you have yet to invest in AW cashmere (an iconic piece to own) now is the time, particularly as she has some beautiful styles on sale (with up to 70% off). Here is a selection of my favourites. Dress them with silk, leather, suede or denim…the choice is yours.

Small treats that make an impact…

Friday, April 3, 2020
Like many of you, I spent much of last week speaking to friends, family and my fabulous clients to check they were all well and to see if they needed any specific advice from me in terms of looking and feeling good during such a stressful time. Some requests are easier to answer than others. For instance…how to angle your laptop camera to achieve the most flattering image on Zoom - I’ll get back to you when I’ve mastered it! Whereas, sharing what I’ve bought in the last couple of weeks to cheer myself up – well – that’s a joy to do.

How clothing can impact your life

Friday, March 27, 2020
For some people, being interested in clothes and fashion at this time will seem frivolous, shallow and low priority. For me, there has never been a time when clothing holds so much importance. Clothing impacts our behaviour and performance. It can lift our mood instantly and make a bad day better and a good day fabulous. I can’t think of a better time to consider what we’re wearing – even if it may be from the comfort of our home with little face to face interaction.

SPRING/SUMMER 2020 STYLE REPORT (PART 2)

Friday, March 20, 2020
Wow, what a difference a week makes! Whilst we may all be giving the high-street a wide berth for now, I figure we need some distraction from the overwhelming and depressing headlines. In an attempt to “keep calm and carry on” why not take a moment, sit back and read Part 2 of the spring/summer trends for 2020.

SPRING/SUMMER 2020 STYLE REPORT (PART 1)

Friday, March 13, 2020
At this time of year, the most popular question I’m asked is: What’s new for Spring/Summer? Whilst my business is about style as opposed to ‘fleeting trends’, I am always happy to answer it. Each season, designers showcase their latest collections and it never fails to inspire and excite me. This is Part 1 of 2 style posts dedicated to spring/summer 2020. I hope you enjoy it.

Maggie Loves….The Winser London Midi Poncho

Friday, March 6, 2020
This week I had the pleasure of attending a press breakfast to view the Winser London Collection. As regular readers may remember, back in the Autumn I was raving about the Gillian Anderson ‘lips jumper’ which I know many of you fell in love with.

Maggie Loves…the mid-heel mules

Friday, February 21, 2020
Ok, I know it’s only February and it’s cold, and it’s wet BUT can we talk summer shoes please? In particular, my love of square-toed mules. This cream leather version from Top Shop is a personal favourite of mine. I love that:

Maggie wears…a motif t-shirt

Friday, January 31, 2020
We all know how much I love shirts and knitwear, but I have recently fallen for the ‘motif’ t-shirt. I love how a t-shirt feels under a suit jacket (often far more comfortable than a shirt) and the coolness it can bring to an outfit. This one is from H&M’s collaboration with the designer Richard Allen. Unfortunately, it is no longer available (I bought 3 at the time!) but here are some great alternatives from the high-street. I hope you love the idea of adding an inexpensive item like a t-shirt to a designer piece you may own.

Maggie Loves…a stunning satin midi-skirt

Friday, January 24, 2020
As we hit mid-January the stores are at that awkward stage: still full of sad looking sale rails, with a small section dedicated to the crisp and fresh new season. Most people I know are not big shoppers in January, including me.I am only tempted when I find a piece I can wear now but will also see me through the seasons. Enter stage left…this stunning Massimo Dutti skirt.

New Year Style Resolutions & Sale pieces worth investing in…

Friday, January 10, 2020
Welcome back to the first Style Post for 2020.I hope the year has started well for you. Many of you will be knee deep in resolutions and loving the idea of a fresh start, whilst others will be boycotting the whole idea and day-dreaming of summer holidays.

Maggie Loves…YOU

Friday, December 20, 2019
As Maggie Killick Style closes its doors for 2019, I wanted to say a huge, heartfelt thank you to each and every one of you. Whether you are a regular reader (love the loyalty) or have passed it on to friends and family (love the sharing) – thank you. My aim is to continue to improve the Style Post by giving you more of what you want: by introducing you to more great brands, designers and experts in the world of style, beauty, fitness and wellness.

Maggie wears…Tulle

Friday, December 13, 2019
Hi, just me, casually hanging out on the stairs and by the window-sill, as you do! Ignore the posed shots (never comfortable in front of a camera) and focus on the tulle. In particular, the Amanda Wakeley tulle skirt which I love so much I had to get it in black too (damn you Amanda)!

Maggie Loves….A statement shoe

Friday, December 6, 2019
I love a statement shoe, well - two preferably, but in the fashion world everyone speaks in the singular! I also love velvet and a block heel so you can imagine my delight when I came across this beautiful pair from J Crew (click on image for more detail).

Gift Ideas for the woman who has everything

Friday, November 29, 2019
So, are we all sorted for Christmas?Whether you’re wrapped, tagged and ready to go (how did you manage that?) or still freaking out about your to-do list (I’m with you sister!)I hope the Christmas lead-up is as stress-free as possible. When it comes to gift buying, I often find, what takes the time is the gift inspiration as opposed to the actual shopping. This is especially true when, let’s be honest, many people we know buy what they love through-out the year, rather than waiting until Christmas.

So, here is a selection of gift ideas for the woman who has everything. Whilst she may not think of treating herself to them – she will love to receive them.

Friday, November 8, 2019
Whilst you may know and love All Saints for its edgy style, it now has a range of beautiful perfumes under its (very stylish) belt and I’ve become a huge fan.

The clocks have changed – TIME TO SWAP OVER!

Friday, November 1, 2019
Yes, autumn is officially upon us and I love everything about it: the colours, the temperature, the dark evenings and obviously the clothes. Summer clothes never give me the same thrill as autumn/winter ones. To mark the change, I spent last Saturday packing away my spring/summer clothes to make room for gorgeous knits, long boots and fabulous coats.

Maggie Killick Wears….her favourite leather jacket

Friday, October 25, 2019
This post has been prompted by last week’s “Maggie Loves”. Many of you requested some advice on leather jackets. Here is my personal favourite. It’s 4 years old, it’s from Mango (I know – I was very surprised too) and I love the simplicity, the cut and the fit. It’s my go-to jacket for Autumn and I love how it has worn – it just gets better with age – Amen to that!

Maggie Loves…A Luxurious Leather Skirt…

Friday, October 18, 2019
As many of you will know, I’m a real fan of leather – particularly jackets and skirts (clearly worn separately!).A leather skirt can toughen up the prettiest blouse, add edge to great knitwear and is such a versatile piece worn with boots, heels or flats.Whilst everyone will have different budgets I believe in buying the best quality you can afford – particularly with leather as it will last a lifetime and simply improve with age.

The Autumn/Winter Accessories Edition

Friday, October 4, 2019
Welcome to the “Accessories Edition” of the Style Post.I hope it inspires you to make stunning choices when it comes to belts, bags and boots – 3 key items that elevate the simplest outfit. We all know the power of a great outfit – how it can make us feel, the confidence it can bring but often we forget that a well-chosen accessory can transform, add edginess and individuality to a classic piece of clothing.

Maggie Killick Wears : A mix of textures

Friday, September 27, 2019
As a Stylist, many people assume I always know what to wear.Well, here’s the thing…often I struggle when I put an outfit on that I loved last week but doesn’t quite work this week (note to self – that’s not about the clothes it’s about how I’m feeling).Sometimes, I don’t feel edgy enough; some days I want to wear something I love but I know it’s impractical for a day rushing from one meeting to the next. However, this outfit is the one I return to again and again whatever style dilemma I’m having.

Maggie Recommends….the ‘lips’ jumper by Gillian Anderson for Winser London

Those of you who are regular readers will know that when I go on holiday I have certain holiday rituals. Here’s what I’m buying, trying, booking and reading for 4 glorious nights away. Shop your own wardrobe…and see what happens

Friday, July 5, 2019
This week’s Style Post has been prompted by a discussion I had with a great friend (and client). We were sat in the sunshine, having breakfast, discussing whether she really DID need to book a “summer shop”. My answer was ‘No’. This may sound strange as stylists are about taking people shopping aren’t they?

Hello Summer….Hello Sale Shopping….

Friday, June 28, 2019
Most of us love a bargain, don’t we? However, the trick is knowing what IS a bargain during sale-time. Do you love it or are you just buying it due to the discount?People I know fall into two camps: those who love the rummage and the anticipation of finding a great piece that is heavily discounted and those who have neither the enthusiasm or the energy to commit to sale shopping.

SAVE THE DATE….Wednesday 9th October 2019 (6.00 – 7.30 pm) – Private London Event

Friday, June 21, 2019
Whilst we are currently waiting for Summer to kick in – Autumn/Winter (my favourite time of year) will no doubt be here before we know it.To kick off the season in style I am delighted to invite you to a very special ‘Maggie Loves’ event. This will be held at one of my favourite luxury accessory brands, Aspinal of London. For those of you unfamiliar with the brand – boy are you in for a gorgeous surprise.

Aspinal is quintessentially English and prides itself on creating beautiful designer handbags, purses and luxury leather gifts. Each piece is made to such a superior quality you will enjoy it for a lifetime which is so refreshing in our current ‘throw-away’ society. However, don’t just take my word for it, here are some of my personal favourites below.

Are you “beach-body” ready?

Friday, June 14, 2019
If you’re heading to a beach this summer, and you have a body, YES you are!I do appreciate, however, the thought of wearing swimwear may not fill you with joy – in fact many of us will leave shopping for costumes or bikinis until the very last minute (sound familiar?).Well, let me attempt to change all that by showing you some of the most amazing options out there: whatever you shape, whatever your size - you’ll be spoilt for choice.

Seeing the potential in new and “preloved” clothing

Friday, May 31, 2019
As a Stylist I meet many women who:

own way too many clothes;
- find shopping overwhelming and stressful;
- own huge wardrobes yet have nothing to wear;
- have a favourite piece - often very old ( or should I say “preloved”!) but they are reluctant to throw it away because of the joy it once bought.

Your Summer Wardrobe Staple…

Friday, May 24, 2019
As most of you know, when it comes to Spring/Summer dressing I tend to keep things simple and have key staples that I love to wear. Many of these are not the most expensive of items and for this reason I tend to replace them each season to keep things crisp, fresh and chic. These pieces include: t-shirts, vest tops, shirts and white plimsoles. I often buy them from Gap, French Connection, J Crew and Whistles and I absolutely love how versatile they are.I also love the way they look with my “hero” summer piece.

Feel and Look Great in Your Body – NOW

Friday, May 17, 2019
Working as a Stylist gives me the opportunity to mix with great people in the world of fashion, beauty, fitness and health.I consider it a real privilege and feel compelled to spread the word so you too can benefit from their knowledge and expertise. So, without further ado, let me introduce you to Kate Horwood.

Re-vamping the Style Post especially for you

Friday, May 3, 2019
As most of you know I’m not a huge social media fan.Maybe it’s my age (never!) maybe it’s my inability to take a decent selfie (unfortunate when you’re a Stylist) or maybe it’s because I’m a Londoner (sorry couldn’t resist). On a serious note, I know social media has its place and is great for business but for me, it is all about meeting people face to face. It’s why I’m putting together regular Style Events and now offer a 365 service (click here for details) so clients see me more regularly through-out the year. This got me thinking about you, my loyal Style Post readers.I know many of you are not clients (yet!), nevertheless, I want to ensure you get what you need from the Style Post and that it remains something you look forward to reading.

It’s wedding season…don’t panic, I’ve got you…

Friday, April 26, 2019
As a stylist I have spent many years dressing women for weddings. Whilst they all have great style generally, when it comes to a wedding outfit, they seem to struggle to find one that they love. The main reason for this, in my opinion, is they fail to stay true to their style and attempt to dress in a way they feel is “wedding appropriate” BIG MISTAKE. If dresses aren’t your thing – don’t feel you have to wear one to a wedding; if you feel awkward wearing a hat or fascinator – don’t; if wearing heels fills you with dread – find some beautiful flats. It’s simple really but we can all get caught up in what we feel we SHOULD wear. So, let’s clear up a few misconceptions about wedding dressing:

Something to….see, try, buy and indulge in this Easter

Friday, April 19, 2019
The Easter break is here – 4 days to indulge in chocolate, friends and family. If you’re lucky you may even get to sneak in some “me time” and if you do – here are a few ideas on how you might want to spend it.

What a “Maggie Loves” Event taught me….

Friday, April 5, 2019
Last Thursday I had the joy of hosting a “Maggie Loves” event at Amanda Wakeley’s flagship store. The evening was described as “brilliant”, “genius style advice for everyone”, “informative” “inclusive”, “relaxed”, “supportive and super stylish”. I couldn’t agree more! The reason I share all this is because it really wasn’t “all about me”. On the contrary: the clothing, the AW team and the guests made it such a success. Here are 3 things I learned from the evening that have inspired me to create more “Maggie Loves” events. I’ve also included a selection of stunning pieces purchased on the night.I hope they inspire you for your most stylish season yet.

Headline News…Trouser Suits are back for 2019

Friday, March 22, 2019
Ok, I know there is a lot going on in the world that needs our attention but in the world of style and fashion – trouser suits are front page news.Ladies - they are back for Spring/Summer 2019. In the world of Maggie Killick Style – they never went away. However, this season is all about relaxed tailoring and embracing new colours – whether it be pastel shades or bold vibrant colours - the choice is yours.

Friday, March 8, 2019

In amongst those women is Dara Ford who I am delighted to introduce to you. Before I talk about her beautiful accessory (which launches today) here’s what you need to know about her: she is a hugely talented womenswear tailor (they are extremely rare); she is understated (most brilliant women are); and she has a passion for creating clothes to empower and celebrate women. This was the starting point for her latest accessory.

Embracing Colour for Spring/Summer 2019

Friday, February 22, 2019
As many of you know I’m a huge fan of black.Yes, I know it gets a bad press: too draining, too boring, too depressing but… it’s also incredibly chic, stylish and a great wardrobe staple. However, this season, I am keen to embrace more colour to see how it feels, to see if it really can empower, provide confidence, and make me feel joyful and uplifted.Care to join me…

Summer bargains in January…YES PLEASE

Friday, January 18, 2019
A key trend for January is to refrain from shopping and wait for the beautiful New Season Collections to hit the stores.I’ll be putting together a New Season Style Post which will give you a summary of all the key trends and a host of inspirational ideas on how to wear them – but what now…

Practical Solutions for an Organised Wardrobe – once and for all!

Friday, January 11, 2019
So, 11 days in….are we all sorted?January is the perfect time to get your wardrobes in order.I have yet to meet someone who doesn’t love the idea of a beautifully organised wardrobe. Apart from the obvious positives: you save time getting dressed, you fall in love with your clothes again, you can see what you have and what’s needed - I believe the most important upside to an organised wardrobe is what it does for your head-space.It has been scientifically proven that being tidy and ordered with in your surroundings frees your mind, gives you a sense of calm and helps you focus. What a great start to 2019.

New Year – bring on the new experiences…

Friday, January 4, 2019
Happy New Year - I hope 2019 is an amazing one for each and every one of you. January is a strange time. For many it’s a gloomy month: too dark, too cold and too many impossible resolutions. For others it’s all about ‘starting over’ with an excitement for what’s to come.

Maggie Killick Style 2018 Christmas Message…

Friday, December 21, 2018
4 days to go!! Whether you are completely organised (how the hell do you do that?) or completely stressed (I hear you sister!) I just wanted to take a moment to thank each and every one of you for supporting Maggie Killick Style.

Staying Stylish and comfortable on Christmas Day

Friday, December 14, 2018
Despite the madness of it all, I’m a huge Christmas fan. I love (in no particular order): the lights; the mulled wine; the miniature food(!); the parties; even the gift wrapping. I’m also a girl who likes to dress up on Christmas Day. I know many people prefer to stay in their PJ’s as long as possible but for me the trick is finding an outfit that makes me feel fabulous but remains comfortable (ALL DAY).

The Perfect Christmas Gift…for under £50

Friday, December 7, 2018
By now you will have been bombarded with Christmas gift ideas – for him, for her, for children etc. Rather than adding a whole new selection, I thought I would just tell you about one – because, as with everything stylish, less is more…

Black Friday – the day when we often lose our logic and style!

Thursday, November 22, 2018
Nothing beats the thrill of getting discount on something you adore and with Black Friday already in full swing there are discounts galore! However, I don’t want to be a kill-joy here, BUT, try not to get swept up in the madness of it all. If you really love something then go for it but ask yourself – Would I love it if it wasn’t discounted? If not – step away, resist the temptation and wait for that piece of clothing or accessory that fills you with joy every time you wear it.

Styling your way through Christmas Events…

It’s fast approaching isn’t it? - The season where we need to catch up with absolutely everyone before 25th December. Whether it’s a black tie do, a cocktail party, a fancy dinner or a girls night on the town, Christmas is the time we attempt to fit it all in. It is also the time when shops are filled with little black dresses, sequins and lace. Whilst there is nothing wrong with any of those options, it’s also fine not to go there!

An Evening of Style & Inspiration

Friday, October 26, 2018
What can clothing do for you? What makes a great wardrobe? What inspires us for Autumn/Winter 2018? These questions and many others were answered at my recent style event at Amanda Wakeley’s Flagship Store. For those of you who were there – thank you for making it a truly fabulous evening. There was such a buzz in the room and thank you to Amanda Wakeley for creating a beautiful collection and for sharing, with us, her thoughts on clothing and style.

The Ultimate Winter Coat Collection

Friday, October 19, 2018
Many of you have been asking for a Style Post dedicated to the “perfect” winter coat. Before I go ahead and make you swoon over a selection of stunning options, I just want to say a word or two about this week’s amazing event with Amanda Wakeley OBE and her fabulous team. I say a word or two because next week’s post will be dedicated to it: what we discussed, Amanda’s insights into her new stunning collection, my favourite picks (so many!), video footage etc – so if you didn’t manage to secure a place on the night - apologies but hopefully this will be the next best thing. To those of you who did join me – thank you. It was a joy to spend time with you. It was described as having a “great vibe”, “inspiring”, “fun” and that is all down to the incredible women in the room – thank you for the support and for being so fabulous. Now…where was I with coats….

News from Maggie Killick Style

Friday, October 12, 2018
Firstly, I’m so delighted by all your responses to my latest accessory – the MKS ‘newsboy’ cap. I’m thrilled so many of you love it and those who have ordered one will receive delivery next week. For those who have yet to order (what are you waiting for?) and for those who are undecided (“I love it but not sure I can carry it off”) feel free to try it out first click here.

The MKS Accessory you need in your life…

Friday, September 28, 2018
Yes, it is finally here, and I’m thrilled to share it with you, the gorgeous new accessory from Maggie Killick Style.  It’s the perfect addition to your Autumn/Winer wardrobe - a tweed “newsboy” style cap that suits everyone, trust me.  Whether you want to give your outfit a touch of style, to avoid using an umbrella (I hate them), or on those bad hair days (hate those too!), this cap is the perfect style solution for the season ahead.  So here it is, together with more details on why you’ll love it, stylish ways to wear it and how to order it.

Date for your Style Diary…16th October 2018

Friday, September 21, 2018
One piece of style advice I often share with my clients is to refrain from wearing one brand head to toe. I prefer to mix up brands (designer and high street) to create individual looks. However, there are exceptions – and when you see Amanda Wakeley’s new Autumn/Winter Collection, you’ll see why.

Autumn/Winter 2018 Trend Report (Part 2)

Friday, September 14, 2018
Welcome back to Part 2 of the Autumn 2018 Trend Report and thank you for all your feedback from last week’s Post. It is always so lovely to know you enjoy reading it and I hope it continues to inspire, rather than dictate, what you wear.
So, we have covered animal print, tweed and leather but how about pleats, winter florals and the new colour of the season. Let’s get started…

Autumn/Winter 2018 Trend Report (Part 1)

Friday, September 7, 2018
One of the main reasons I love what I do (apart from the joy of styling fabulous people) is the continual excitement I feel when a new style season arrives, especially Autumn/Winter.

For the last month I’ve been taking inspiration from runway shows, visiting stores, checking websites and putting look-books together for various clients. These looks give a nod to the fashion world but remain effortless, stylish pieces that work in ‘real life’ as opposed to catwalks!

Getting Organised for September….

Friday, August 24, 2018
Yes, we are almost in September. For me, and hopefully many of you, September is all about new beginnings, fresh starts and adopting new habits. Somehow they seem easier to keep than those we attempt in January.

In order to give myself the best possible chance of being organised for the autumnal months ahead, here are 3 things I do at the end of August which I’d like to share with you. You’ll notice none involve shopping – you’ll have to wait for next week’s inspiring ‘Shopping the Season’ Style Post – trust me, it’ll be worth it.

How to feel more positive about your body

Thursday, August 16, 2018

I only popped in for a vase…

Friday, August 3, 2018
I left with a 1 dress, 3 tops and the vase OBVIOUSLY!

This is what happens when you visit ARKET, H&M’s high-end store, described as a ‘modern day market’. It opened its first London store in 2017 (on Regent Street) and I have watched it grow from strength to strength - with two new stores in Covent Garden and Westfield.

When it’s too hot to shop clothes – bring on the summer accessories…

Friday, July 27, 2018

Covering up on the beach has never looked so stylish…

Friday, July 20, 2018
So, you’ve got your bikini or flattering swimsuit (if not – call me!) but what do you wear to take you from the beach to lunch, or hotel to poolside? Sometimes, we can get so hung up on the swim-wear we forget about everything else. We simply throw on a t-shirt and hope for the best. Well, not any more…

Summer dressing (no floaty dresses required)!

Thursday, July 12, 2018
Firstly thank you so much for all your messages from my last Post on Summer Dresses. It’s always lovely to get your feedback and I’m delighted it inspired you to get in touch. Thank you also to those “non-dress lovers” asking for alternative advice on summer dressing. It’s fair to say we tend to fall into two camps in summer: those who love a floaty, printed boho number and those that, well, don’t!

Fear not, I hear you sisters…

Summer dressing – bring on the effortless dress

Friday, June 29, 2018
Well it’s fair to say – Summer has arrived. What glorious weather – just right for throwing on a cool, effortless dress. However, rather than you taking the time to search the high-street, allow me to do the hard work for you. Here are my favourites, and they’re all on sale!

Spreading the word…

Friday, June 22, 2018
As you know, my weekly Style Post is all about sharing: whether it be a particular experience, clothing brand, beauty product or event. Unlike many stylists, I am not in collaboration with particular brands, I simply enjoy spreading the word on things I genuinely love. The hope is that each Style Post inspires you to try new things and make the very best of yourself. With this in mind – welcome to… “Something to…”

My Top 5 Summer Wardrobe Transformers

Friday, June 8, 2018
As many of you know, when it comes to summer dressing, I’m all for keeping it simple. Summer is a time when many women don’t want to spend a fortune on clothing (particularly in the UK!) but they still want the “cool and stylish” look. I find, if I have these five items in my wardrobe I know I can achieve the look without having to continually buy new outfits. Read on to find out what they are…

Style Lessons from the Royal Wedding

Friday, May 25, 2018
I love a wedding, so, as you can imagine, I was in my element on Saturday. There I was at 9 am, sat between my fabulous girlfriends, champagne in hand, ready to take it all in – and check out the style obviously!

3 Events to inspire your style

Friday, May 18, 2018
Whilst my aim for the Style Post is to share style opinions and inspire you in terms of your individual style, I appreciate there are designers and exhibitions that do it far more impressively. Now, more than ever, London museums are creating stunning events showcasing spectacular photography, fashion and design. Here are 3 that I am hugely excited about and delighted to introduce to you. I hope they give you as much joy and passion for style as they do for me.

The perfect alternative to jeans this summer…

Friday, May 4, 2018
I’m a huge fan of denim – skinny, boyfriend or straight. They’re a style staple in every woman’s wardrobe and, on average, we own at least 8 pairs (according to a recent survey)! Whilst I love them in Autumn/Winter, when it comes to Spring/Summer I prefer something a bit lighter – enter stage left – the chino.

Weddings have moved on – have you?

Friday, April 27, 2018
As many of you will know, as part of my role as a Stylist, I’m often asked to help brides, mothers of the bride and bridesmaids to find their perfect dress or outfit. I feel very privileged to be part of something so special and, as you can imagine, am always beyond excited to get involved.

Easy pieces to make summer work for you…

Friday, April 20, 2018
The Sun is out….quick, grab your favourite summer pieces and get out there and enjoy.

Often, during summer, I just want to add a few stylish but non-expensive pieces to my wardrobe staples. So, here are some high-street finds that, in my view, look far more expensive than they are (always a joy) – yet remain chic, cool and stylish.

Nothing says Spring/Summer like crisp white…

Friday, April 13, 2018
It’s fresh, it’s fabulous and it makes you feel ever so cool. Ok, it’s a tad impractical BUT if you lose the red wine, chocolate, public transport and small children – you’re sorted! Whether you opt for a head-to- toe look or just want to add a piece (eg. beautiful flared trousers, a sexy white shirt or jacket) the look is effortless and it’s what dry cleaners are there for.

My Me & Em Style Crush – An invitation to join me

Friday, April 6, 2018
As many of you will know I am a huge fan of Me and Em. Since the brand launched in 2009 I have happily watched it grow from strength to strength. The brand insists everything they make is flattering, on-trend and functional. It also feels very strongly that fashion only works if you can wear a piece time and again, and feel completely confident in it. Amen to that!

How to spend a super stylish Easter…

Friday, March 30, 2018
I know we’re not expecting “Spring-like” weather for the Easter break BUT it is a 4-day week-end, so bring it on! I’m planning to catch up with friends and family, see a movie (one of my favourite past-times) and obviously eat far too much chocolate. Whatever your plans are I hope you enjoy your time and if you’re undecided as to how you’ll spend it, here are a few ideas to inspire you.

What does your Spring/Summer wardrobe need?

Friday, March 23, 2018
Whilst the weather is still a little uncertain (to say the least), now is the perfect time to assess your summer wardrobe and decide what it needs in order for you to love it. Who knows, it may even bring on some sunshine!

As you all know, I tend to keep my summer wardrobe fairly simple (maxi skirts, vest tops (both t-shirt and silky), wide leg and cigarette trousers and a few maxi dresses. I also introduce a few new accessories to add to my all-time favourite outfit of white shirt and jeans.

Fashion for Good…

Friday, March 9, 2018
As you know when I hear about new and impressive clothing brands, I love to share them with you. So, allow me to introduce you to Ninety Percent. This team of London-based designers launched their womenswear label last month and it’s one with a fabulous business model…

London Fashion Week – Spring/Summer 2018

Friday, March 2, 2018
What can I tell you about this year’s fashion shows? How about what I won’t be investing in: bum bags; track-suits (with or without high heels!); fringing and plastic macs. Why? See below - enough said!

Spring/Summer 2018 footwear – too soon?

Friday, February 23, 2018
Ok, I know your feet may still be ensconced in warm boots, but Spring/Summer footwear played a huge part in this week’s London Fashion shows. There was something for everyone. Themes (yes themes!) included:

Word on the High Street is “Collaboration”

Friday, February 9, 2018
As a stylist and clothes designer, I obviously keep a keen eye on what’s happening in the world of style and fashion and that includes how the high street is evolving. Over the past few years I’ve seen many changes – some good (limited editions, new emerging brands) - some not so good (less quirky boutiques, too much choice and not enough quality).

Taking care of yourself with products I love to recommend…

Friday, January 26, 2018
As regular readers will know, every now and again, I like to recommend beauty products: not because I’m a beauty expert, far from it, but I know several women who are and who kindly recommend lotions and potions to me. Through-out January I’ve tried the following which I absolutely love (and I promise you I’m not paid to say that).

Still looking for a stylish sale bargain? You’re in luck…

Friday, January 19, 2018
Many of you have emailed asking for my take on the January sales – what I’ve seen, what I’ve loved and what I’ve purchased. The truth is, I struggle with many sales because, by now, new collections are hitting stores which look beautiful – particularly when next to the remnants of sale pieces. I also find many stores dig out very old stock (that no one really wants) and offer it at 70% off!! That is not a bargain. Check out my previous Style Post for tips on how to shop the sales.
That said, the aim of the Style Post is to give you what you’ve asked for so I’ve hit the stores, I’ve seen and I’ve purchased some of the following. I hope this inspires you to choose wisely.

New Year – New blah, blah, blah!

Friday, January 12, 2018
So how has 2018 been so far? It’s fair to say the people I know and love fall into two camps – those who love the New Year and see it as an ideal time to start over and re-invent themselves; whilst others find January a tough time – it’s cold, dark and they’ve decided to give up everything they love from chocolate to booze to meat to diary (Veganuary anyone?).

A Christmas Thank You…

Friday, December 22, 2017
As Maggie Killick Style closes its doors for Christmas I just wanted to send you a heartfelt thank you. To those I’ve styled this year – it’s been a real privilege; to those I’ve yet to style – I’m ready when you are!

The Presents to inspire us in 2018

Friday, December 8, 2017
When it comes to Christmas, you may be one of those people who is super organised; someone who, by now, has everything wrapped, tagged, and ready to go. If you are – I am in awe and need to ask – How the hell did that happen? I never seem to quite get there – not because I’m particularly disorganised (it’s only 8th December after all!) but because I find most people don’t desperately NEED anything (or if they do they’ve already bought it for themselves) so it’s difficult to find gift inspiration.

When is a bargain not a bargain?

Thursday, November 23, 2017
When you don’t really want it. I know we all love a bargain but for many of us today, Friday 24th November is a time when all logic goes out of the window and we end up regretting our impulse purchases brought on by Black Friday.

3 stylish places to visit in London this week-end (and beyond)…

Friday, November 17, 2017
Have you started Christmas shopping yet? It’s too early for me, because my husband insists I wait until after his birthday (10th December) before I even mention Christmas! However, back to you…

What do you look for in a winter coat…

Friday, November 10, 2017
When investing in a great coat we generally think of practicality, versatility, warmth and coziness. I absolutely get it – you need it to suit your lifestyle; your wardrobe; and it needs to keep the chill out. However, what about those coats that don’t tick any of those boxes? Those coats that make a statement but may be less practical in terms of colour; or embellished with sequins/florals; or are a bold ‘in your face’ pattern? I say, bring them on…

The clocks have changed – have you?

Friday, November 3, 2017
Yes, autumn is officially upon us and I love everything about it: the colours, the temperature, the dark evenings and obviously the clothes. Summer clothes never give me the same thrill as autumn/winter ones. To mark the change, I spent last Saturday packing away my spring/summer clothes to make room for gorgeous knits, long boots and fabulous coats.

A new brand to inspire you…

Friday, October 20, 2017
As many of you know the aim of the weekly Style Post is to inspire you to try new looks, offer you helpful style advice (rather than rules – because who likes rules?), and update you on new designers and brands.

Making Leopard Print work for you…

Friday, October 13, 2017
As many of you know, when it comes to my own individual style, I’m not a huge fan of pattern. However I do make exceptions: spots, stripes and, one of my all-time favourites, leopard print. Yep, move over Bet Lynch, you’ve got competition!

Winter coats – so much choice, so little time!

Friday, September 29, 2017
Whilst the fashion pack have moved onto Spring/Summer ’18 can we just take a moment to embrace the joy of dressing for Autumn/Winter – in particular finding the perfect coat. I confess I have a bit of a thing about coats - I own 15! This may seem like a lot (who am I kidding? – it is a lot) but in my defence, they are all different in terms of style, colour and price and many hold great memories (my honeymoon coat); (my 30th birthday coat); (my – I walked passed All Saints and couldn’t resist it coat!).

It’s the colour of the season and I couldn’t be happier…

Friday, September 15, 2017
Yes, it’s the hottest trend for Autumn/Winter - it can make you feel confident and it can brighten the dullest of days - I’m talking RED. This season catwalks were awash with my favourite colour. There were sleek coats from Armani, not to mention head-to-toe outfits by Oscar de la Renta and Givenchy.

Finding or re-defining your style – September is the perfect time

Thursday, September 7, 2017
This week I was delighted to be asked to write a style feature for Business Studio London members. This is a new and exciting career club for women. It is free to join and sends regular newsletters featuring: exclusive networking opportunities; interviews with inspiring women (including career coaches and mentors); and also introduces carefully selected, emerging and lesser known womenswear clothing brands. These brands may not have high-street stores but their designers have the talent and ability to create beautiful clothing.

Launching a clothing line – looking back and looking to its future…

Monday, September 4, 2017
3 years ago today, I had the joy of achieving a life-long ambition – launching my very own clothing line: Maggie Killick Made in England. My vision was to create a collection of ‘perfect staples’ for stylish women everywhere. Clearly they needed to be beautiful, contemporary and made from exceptional fabric but more than that they needed to have a quirky twist – a hint of masculine meets feminine (strong but sexy; classic with attitude) and they needed to work hard for my clients. Together with very talented and generous experts, whom I was privileged to call “my team” my vision came to life.

Downsizing your handbag….you know it makes sense

Friday, August 25, 2017
Those of you who know me well know I’m partial to a large handbag. In fact I find it almost impossible to use anything but a large tote bag. Even when it comes to evening bags I go for an ‘oversized clutch’! People often ask: “What on earth have you got in your bag?”; “why is it so heavy?” and/or “how can you possibly need a bag that big”? Truth is I don’t really know. I seem to carry around the same as everyone else – essentials – well, I consider them essentials: make-up bag; purse; notepad & pen, IPhone; keys and maybe a book. Whatever the reason, this Autumn/Winter things are going to change: I’m making a concerted effort to downsize for many reasons:

Why black & white is the perfect combination…

Friday, August 11, 2017
Whenever I find myself struggling to decide what to wear, or on days when I feel nothing looks quite right, (yep, I may be a stylist but it can still happen!), I always turn to a black & white outfit combination. There's nothing more chic and nothing easier than styling an outfit that's purely black and white. Whilst the combination is considered a ‘classic’ that doesn’t mean it has to be drab or boring. This combination can look incredibly cool and quirky - you just need to know how to wear it.

My latest high-street crush….Anthropologie

Friday, August 4, 2017
Anthropologie, in my opinion, is like no other high-street store. If you have yet to pay it a visit, trust me you’re in for a real treat when you do. It’s a one-of-a-kind destination for something a little different – whether it’s clothing, accessories, gifts or home décor – it will fill you with inspiration. The brand’s buyers and designers pride themselves on travelling the world to uncover special products and collaborate with talented artists and boy can you tell. The result is a unique store that smacks of creativity with influences ranging from vintage to global. The downside of the store? You may well (as I did last week) aim to pop in for a small gift (a candle in my case) let’s just say, I emerged an hour later, with a lot more than a candle!

Loving all things stylish…

Friday, July 28, 2017
As your stylist I feel it’s my job (although clearly it’s more of a joy) to keep you informed of new brands, exhibitions, products that will make a difference to you. With this is mind I thought I’m spread the word on the following…

3 discount websites worth the search…

Friday, July 21, 2017
Firstly, thank you so much to all of you who viewed, liked and passed on my style video – it is so appreciated and I’m delighted it inspired so many of you to give the white shirt a try – you won’t be disappointed.

Maggie Killick Style is branching out…

Friday, July 14, 2017
Ladies – I’ve got news. I’ve teamed up with the wonderfully talented Helen Pritchard from Orchid Digital to take the Maggie Killick Style brand kicking and screaming into the digital age! I now have a You Tube Style Channel and, as loyal and fabulous readers of the Style Post, so do you.

Great summer pieces at great sale prices…

Friday, July 7, 2017
Whilst Maggie Killick Style is all about beautiful staples and investment pieces I do appreciate everyone loves a bargain – a quick fix to inject some life into our wardrobe without spending a fortune. Summer is the perfect time to do this - the high-street sales are well underway with upto 70% off in many stores.

Why Diana’s Fashion Story converted me…

Friday, June 30, 2017
One of the great perks of being a stylist is I get to attend many fabulous style and fashion events. In early June I was invited by a client (and good friend – thank you Anne) to visit Kensington Palace for a private tour of ‘Diana: Her Fashion Story’ exhibition.

I have to say, whilst I always admired Diana for her charity work and her determination to break with many royal traditions and protocols, I never really considered her a style icon. That is until now…

What can an 84 year old teach us all about style?

Friday, June 23, 2017
As a regular reader of the Style Post I wanted to apologise for my absence in the past two weeks. Sadly, my father-in-law passed away suddenly and I have been with friends and family attempting to come to terms with our loss. Whilst you will not have known him, my father-in-law was an amazing man – smart and kind with a quick wit and a great sense of style.

The perfect wardrobe staple…

Friday, June 2, 2017
This week 3 things happened to decide this week’s topic for the style post. Firstly I received an e-mail from a fabulous client who owns a Maggie Killick Style cigarette trouser suit. Apparently she’d been stopped twice on the same day by women asking where her suit was from – they loved it and I was truly delighted to hear it (thanks for sharing Anne); secondly I was reading in a fashion magazine that trouser suits are making a comeback (not sure where they’re coming back from but still, good to know!); and finally I was presenting a style workshop to a group of great corporate women and discovered many of them had fallen out of love with wearing trouser suits because they struggle to find the right style to suit them.

Cool summer flats - what are you waiting for?

Friday, May 26, 2017
The sun’s out (or at least it was when I wrote this!) so before it disappears, it’s time to show off your feet. Quick - get them out, make them look pretty and slip into some stunning flats. There are so many gorgeous versions out there this season you’ll be spoilt for choice. However, in my opinion, the best colours to opt for are tan, black and orange. Here’s why:

Inspirational, talented, understated…what’s not to love?

Friday, May 19, 2017
I feel very fortunate, in my line of work, that I get to meet iconic women in the world of fashion and beauty. As regular readers of the Style Post you’ll know these have included most recently Amanda Wakeley OBE, and Alexandra Shulman OBE. Both women oozed drive, determination, passion and excitement for their careers; both women were inspiring, down-to-earth, honest and humorous. I can now add another woman who holds the exact same attributes – the fabulous Jo Malone MBE.

Slogan t-shirts and jumpers…can they ever be stylish?

Friday, May 12, 2017
Have you noticed slogan t-shirts and jumpers are very much back in fashion? I’ve spent many an evening with a wonderful client and great friend convincing her that t-shirts emblazoned with the words “Princess” or “Naughty” have no place in her wardrobe (no matter how close to the truth they may be)! That said, I adore all my fabulous clients and appreciate their individuality, so….

What do you really need to wear this summer?

Friday, May 5, 2017
So Spring/Summer is upon us – honestly it is! That said, like a lot of women I know, I’m not a huge fan of summer clothing. I tend to stick to key summer staples: chinos, white shirts, (obviously!), wide leg trousers, strappy tan flats and the easiest of all - dresses….

Wedding season is here – bring me my stylish outfit!

Friday, April 28, 2017
Wedding season is upon us and boy do I love a wedding. However I appreciate finding a wedding outfit can be quite a stressful process. In my opinion it’s because we think too hard about whether an outfit is “wedding appropriate”. This results in us opting for an outfit that isn’t really our style which means we’ll never feel good in it. My one piece of advice would be to remember what makes you feel good to wear and what suits you. If you’re not a floral fan – don’t wear them; If you’re not a dress fan – find an alternative; if you can’t wear heels, opt for some beautiful flats. The most stunning wedding outfits I’ve seen are understated, unexpected and worn by women who feel super confident in them.

The Easter Break…Time to do the things you love

Friday, April 14, 2017
I love Easter: the 4 day break, the Spring weather (here’s hoping), seeing friends and family and don’t get me started on the chocolate! The problem is we want to cram everyone and everything into the break and then it all becomes a bit manic. So, in amongst catching up with people I never see enough of, here’s what I’m planning.

Independent Female Designers all under one roof…in London until 30th April

Friday, April 7, 2017
Back in October you may remember I introduced you to Charlotte Zimbehl, a hugely passionate and gifted coat and jacket designer. Since October Charlotte has been busy creating her latest Collection and showcasing it in Paris. Her brand goes from strength to strength with her most ‘fashionista’ style mac being shown in Vogue and worn by Red Magazine’s Sophie Hooper at London Fashion Week.

The joy of saving for a beautiful investment piece

Thursday, March 30, 2017
On Mother’s Day my gorgeous and very stylish Mum was talking out clothes she wore back in the day: how well made they were and how she would save up for an item she’d seen in a catalogue or advertised in a newspaper. She was able to reserve the item and pay off a certain amount each week until the day came for her to pick it up. It was sheer joy to see her face when she described arriving home with it, wearing it and the way she took care of it.

Who said ‘neutral’ had to be dull?...

Friday, March 24, 2017
When someone describes a shoe as ‘neutral’ you may automatically think of colours such as black or nude. Well think again! A neutral shoe doesn’t need to be restricted to these colours. We accessorise our outfits with silver jewellery – so why not our feet? Whether you’re a fan of flats, plimsolls, stilettos or block heels, sliver adds a stylish twist to any shoe style – if you need more convincing and/or a little inspiration to give them a try – read on…

Clothing to help with confidence, performance and ability…

Friday, March 17, 2017
As a Stylist I often visit organisations to discuss what dressing well can do for confidence, performance and ability – whatever the profession. Obviously I try to practice what I preach: that is, until it comes to my fitness clothing. Meet me heading to bootcamp or for a work-out with my trainer and it’s a whole different story. For some reason I really don’t think about what I wear when exercising – and it shows. Well, until now….

Move over statement shoes – you’ve got competition…

Friday, March 10, 2017
When was the last time you wore statement earrings? It’s been a while since I invested in some but since London Fashion Week, where designers worked their magic - from Valentino’s dangling swords, to Balenciago’s giant fabric discs - I’ve fallen back in love with them (although I’m giving the mis-matched versions a wide berth)!

Taking a fresh look at how to wear florals…

Thursday, March 2, 2017
Spring is nearly here which means – bring on the florals! Whether you clash, wear head-to-toe or just want to accessorise with the trend, designers and high-street stores are embracing it. Many women I know find wearing florals difficult – whether it’s unsure of what size print to go for; how to mix florals; or how to wear them without looking too mumsy or prissy. Despite not being a huge floral fan (unless it’s a bouquet!) I believe you can create a cool and chic look quite easily. So if you are someone who steers clear of the trend for fear of looking too “ditzy”, too “dainty” and too “feminine” – read on...

Embracing new colour combinations

Friday, February 24, 2017
Like many women I know I’m a real fan of neutral colours. My wardrobe has its fair share of black, white, navy and grey (sound familiar?). Whilst I love each of these colours for their versatility I believe there’s always room for a splash of colour in your wardrobe. Colour adds interest, changes your mood and can transform the simplest outfit.

The hosiery brand you’ve been searching for…

Friday, February 17, 2017
As you know, one of the aims of the weekly Style Post is to spread the word on great brands that help us feel more confident about ourselves and our style. This week I had the pleasure of meeting a hugely talented woman, Christine Nicholson - founder of Divine Legs – The UK’s First Hosiery Subscription Service.

Taking your wardrobe staples and adding Spring/Summer ’17 pieces

Friday, February 10, 2017
As you will all know Maggie Killick Style was born of a desire to help women feel more confident; more positive; more fabulous in what they wear. It stems from wearing key staples (hello MKS collection) that look effortlessly stylish and that give you a feeling of cool, understated, sexiness the moment you wear them. Whilst ‘staples’ can often be seen as boring and samey, I see them as the back-bone of outfit building – just add a dash of ‘trend/fashion’ and you’ll never be tired of your look.

Good news – when we need it most...

Friday, February 3, 2017
It’s fair to say it’s been, and continues to be, a worrying start to 2017. With so much stress and uncertainty in the world it seems a tad superficial to discuss clothing, beauty and style.

So many reasons to choose RED…

Wednesday, January 25, 2017
As many of you will know I adore the colour red. It’s clearly obvious when you look at my brand, my styling and my lips! There are so many reasons for loving it:

Fabulous events to get you through the winter months in style…

Friday, January 20, 2017
Well, if you’re reading this I’m assuming you’ve all survived Blue Monday. You know, January 16th – the day we were all supposed to feel miserable, lose our willpower, give up our healthy regimes and have a complete melt-down! I was absolutely fine until someone reminded me – it went down-hill from there. Whilst I appreciate January can be a tad depressing (booze-free; sugar-free; dark mornings; dark evenings; rain; practical clothing!) January is also a great time to check out new places, new products and new events.

A stylist’s view on the January Sales…

Friday, January 13, 2017
Despite January being all about de-cluttering and re-organising many of you have asked for my take on the January 2017 sales. With this in mind here’s my advice to you on sale shopping together with a selection of worthy sale investments. They are all versatile, timeless and stylish which make them great wardrobe staples.

New Year Resolutions…love them or hate them we’re all tempted to make them.

Friday, January 6, 2017
So – one week in - have you vowed to give up everything that makes you happy - wine, chocolate, box-sets etc. and embrace juicing, raw veg and 10k runs? The pressure to make changes is immense which is why 80% of us break resolutions before the end of January.

A heart-felt thank you …

Friday, December 23, 2016
So here we are at the last style post before Maggie Killick Style closes its doors for 2016. Before I do, can I just say….

Need inspiration for your Christmas Day outfit…

Friday, December 16, 2016
Many of you have been e-mailing asking for advice on what to wear on Christmas Day. Well I say – put away the onesie, ditch the slippers and forget the Christmas jumper (well you did ask!). It’s time to dress up. This doesn’t mean you need to forego comfort. Check out the following pieces that will make you look and feel fabulous however and wherever you spend your Christmas Day.

The easiest way to transform the simplest outfit…

Friday, December 9, 2016
...add a pair of beautiful statement shoes. Whatever your preference: high and strappy; flat with buckles; block heels with ankle straps; velvet or suede there has never been so much choice. Here are some of my favourites together with outfit ideas on how to wear them.

All I want for Christmas…

Friday, December 2, 2016
I love Christmas and the madness that comes with it: writing Christmas cards (usually with a Baileys and chocolates by my side); the shopping (obviously!); the wrapping of gifts (oh how I love to wrap a gift - the more ribbon and tissue paper the better). I love it all – apart from the cooking – never quite mastered that. So back to the gifts…

Whoever said you can’t buy style needs to read this…

Friday, November 18, 2016
Its official - the Christmas madness has begun. Lights have been switched on; supermarkets are selling bizarre miniature food; shops are selling glittery clothing AND there’s still 6 weeks to go.

The jumper we all need to add versatility to our wardrobe

Thursday, November 10, 2016
Yes, it’s officially winter. The weather has turned crisp and cold and I’ve brought out my winter wardrobe. Just as I believe you can never have too many white shirts during the summer months – in winter I feel exactly the same about grey jumpers.

An inspiring evening at the V&A

Friday, November 4, 2016
This week I had the pleasure of visiting my favourite London Museum – The V&A. There are so many reasons to love it: the stunning building, the incredible exhibitions and have you SEEN the gift shop? It’s easy to see why it’s the world’s leading museum when it comes to art and design.

Ask Your Stylist….

Friday, October 28, 2016
As a stylist I’m often asked to deliver presentations: anything from corporate image workshops to glamorous evening style events. They are always a joy to deliver and they often end up over-running due to the number of questions being asked.

The Love of a Great Coat…

Friday, October 21, 2016
Those of you who are regular readers of my Style Post will know I have a real weakness for coats. Whether it’s a fabulous spring coat or a more substantial autumn/winter version – it’s my favourite item of clothing.

Finding your Personal Style

Friday, October 14, 2016
This week I was invited to speak at a Corporate Women’s event. The women were bright, interesting and inspiring and we had a fabulous afternoon discussing personal style. One of the questions I was asked was: Is a sense of style learned, or instinctive?

Feeling the need to embrace Ruffles & Frills?

Friday, October 7, 2016
As a reader of the Style Post you’ll know Maggie Killick Style is more about ‘effortless style’ than ‘high fashion’. However, that doesn’t mean we’re not interested in new trends – the trick is not to be dictated by them.

Meeting a true style inspiration…

Friday, September 30, 2016
You know when you really admire someone and then you get to meet them: you’re either a tad disappointed or they exceed expectation – well, last week the latter happened to me.

Luxurious Velvet – it’s more versatile than you think

Friday, September 23, 2016
Chances are you’ll either love or hate velvet. I, along with my friends Valentino and Dior, love it! Those of you who are not fans, keep reading as I may tempt you to join us in wearing it this Autumn/Winter.

BRING ON THE COLOUR-BLOCKING

Friday, September 16, 2016
Whilst it may still be warm and humid outside – I’ve moved on! Autumn/Winter trends are hitting the stores and one of my favourites for the season is colour-blocking. Head-to-toe colour dominated the catwalks. Valentino’s first 7 looks were all black whilst other designers such as Emilia Wickstead went with more candyfloss colours - a tricky one to carry off in the real world.

A splash of rich burgundy – the perfect choice for Autumn/Winter…

Friday, September 2, 2016
Let’s face it we all love a handbag, don’t we? It’s the item that can immediately transform an outfit: making it look more expensive, adding more interest and however we’re feeling it always fits!

J Crew Shades – the perfect accessory for any outfit

Friday, August 26, 2016
I love sunglasses. For me they’re a real confidence booster and make any outfit a little cooler and edgier. I tend to stick to Ray-Bans but, having been introduced to the new range by J Crew, I’m about to extend my options and, as your stylist, I feel the need to share.

The dress style we all need in the sunshine….

Friday, August 19, 2016
As most of you know I’m much more of an Autumn/Winter girl as opposed to Summer. However there are certain styles I’m a real fan of during the summer months: maxi skirts, kahki chinos and obviously a great white shirt! When it comes to dresses my favourite is the shirt dress. It’s cool, versatile and suits every woman I know.

Be inspi(RED) to look and feel great in your work-out wear

Friday, August 12, 2016
Maybe it’s the Olympics or maybe it’s just because I’ve been eating and drinking too much lately but I’ve decided to up my fitness regime which clearly begins with buying new fitness clothing! Whilst I love clothes I tend not to give much thought to my work-out clothing.

Wedding season style advice – back by popular demand

Friday, August 5, 2016
Yes wedding season is here. I know this because the high-street stores are packed with floral print dresses, matching fascinators, matching bags, matching shoes – if they can match it – they will! Fashion magazines are also full of rules on what you should and shouldn’t wear as a guest – and you know what I think about too many rules!

Summer footwear – how many styles do we really need?

Friday, July 29, 2016
This week I’ve been sorting through my loft and came across a large wicker box of summer footwear. It dawned on me I hadn’t actually taken any of it out – and we’re at the end of July! The reason being: my favourite summer footwear tends to be already in my wardrobe (ready and waiting).

Sharing a talented designer with you

Thursday, July 21, 2016
One of the great pleasures of my job is meeting talented people who inspire me. Just this week I did exactly that and I feel the need to share her with you. Her name is Charlotte Zimbehl and she is a hugely passionate and gifted coat designer. Now I appreciate you may not be necessarily thinking about winter coats just yet(!) but you may think again when you see Charlotte’s collections – I certainly did.

Mixing high-end with bargain high-street brands for versatile, stylish and individual looks

Friday, July 15, 2016
Over the years, in terms of my style, I have remained true to certain pieces: a great white shirt, an oversized knit, a masculine suit jacket, wide leg trousers – to name a few. For me these items give me confidence, remain timeless and continue to inspire different outfits. What has changed over the years is where and how I spend money on clothing. Years ago I would think nothing of picking up high-street bargain pieces on a weekly basis.

Keeping positive as times change…

Friday, July 8, 2016
Since my last style post two major, life-changing, things have happened: one for me and one for our country. On a personal note I celebrated a milestone birthday (still can’t quite believe I’m a grown up); the other (which clearly affects more people!) was Brexit: the most important decision in recent history.

Sharing great beauty products with you

Friday, June 24, 2016
I know, I know, I’m not a beautician or skin specialist but as a Stylist I tend to work closely with make-up artists and skin-care therapists. With their expertise and with time I’ve learned what my skin needs and the brands that work for me.

Summer Sales – Key items to purchase…

Friday, June 17, 2016
So the summer sales are here and it’s fair to say we all love a bargain. However sale shopping can send the most rational mind slightly bonkers. Many women (including myself in a former life) end up buying items simply because they are heavily reduced. Whether the item fits or suits tends to be irrelevant!

Resisting style temptation…

Friday, June 10, 2016
Whilst I adore my job - it does have its downside. I’m constantly looking at new collections, new brands, new designers which inevitably means I’m constantly tempted to buy beautiful new pieces.

Never let age define where you shop

Friday, May 27, 2016
This week I met an incredible woman at a wedding. She looked beautiful; was incredibly bright; had a wicked sense of humour; an effortless style and just happened to be approaching 70

Is M&S finally bringing us a stylish Autumn 16?

Friday, May 27, 2016
M&S is an institution. It’s a store in which, several years ago, I would be guaranteed to find perfect wardrobe staples: from a fitted black v-neck, to a white shirt or cashmere knit. However in recent years I’ve been less impressed and it appears I’m not the only one.

The perfect footwear for Summer….

Friday, May 20, 2016
Since last week’s post many of you have e-mailed to say how much you loved the fact I had shown flat footwear. And you’re right – I do have a tendency to go for high statement shoes and the majority of ones I own are either block, stiletto or wedge styles.

Have you got your summer staples yet?

Friday, May 13, 2016
Yes, summer seems to have finally made an appearance (well it did yesterday!). In the hope of it continuing I’ve begun going through my summer wardrobe and making a note of a few new purchases I need to either replace or compliment what I already have.

The simple pleasure of a great underwear drawer – what does yours look like?

Friday, April 29, 2016
Having just visited the V&A to see Undressed: A Brief History of Underwear (fascinating by the way) I was invited to the unveiling of The Body Studio at Selfridges. The 37,000 sq ft studio promises every possible type of underwear from the practical to the not so(!) and it does.

Looking stylish has never felt so good…

Friday, April 22, 2016
Fashion Targets Breast Cancer is celebrating its 20th anniversary as the nation’s most powerful fashion movement. Their goal is to stop women dying from breast cancer by 2050. Sadly most of us have been touched by the effects of cancer.

How to go from work to cocktails in the simplest way…

Friday, April 15, 2016
As many of you know I run regular style and image workshops for corporate organisations. One common question I’m asked is how to go straight from work to evening events with minimum effort and maximum style. Here are just some of my style tips on how to do so.

The simple white t-shirt I’ve been searching for….

Friday, April 8, 2016
Whilst I love a white shirt there are times when I want a more casual look and when I do I turn to a great fitting t-shirt. Whistles and Jigsaw are two of my favourite brands when it comes to t-shirts for quality, shape and cut.

The joy of finding a new style for you…

Friday, April 1, 2016
One of the great joys of Personal Shopping is getting clients to try clothing I have pre-selected that they may never have chosen and seeing their surprise when they realise how stunning they look in them.

Fantastic staples you’ll love – all under one roof

Friday, March 25, 2016
As many of you know I believe the key to creating a wardrobe that works hard for you is finding beautiful staples which you can then bring to life: pieces you can dress up or down depending on where you’re going and how you’re feeling. It’s rare that I find a store that brings together these key pieces with attention to detail, quality and affordability. But I have…

How to stop “Panic Buying” for good

Friday, March 11, 2016
I recently had the pleasure of meeting 3 new female clients. All are in their 40’s with impressive careers - meaning they constantly receive invitations to social events. Typical invitations include: Wimbledon, Ascot, Conference Week-ends, Cocktail Parties, to name a few.

Update from London Fashion Week Spring/Summer 16

Friday, March 4, 2016
Following on from last week’s Style Post we know stripes, bare shoulders and block heels will be popular for spring/summer but what else did I discover at London Fashion Week? Inspired by the designers and hitting the high-street now, here’s what you can expect..

Spring/Summer Trends to look out for…

Friday, February 26, 2016
Whilst Maggie Killick Style is all about ‘effortless style’ as opposed to ‘fleeting fashion’ it doesn’t mean we don’t love to know about key seasonal trends. What better time to check them out than now when London is buzzing with excitement as we celebrate London Fashion Week.

Chic, Affordable and Well Designed - What’s not to love?

Friday, February 19, 2016
Back in February 2015 I was invited to the launch of a new brand called Finery London. As you will see from my post – I loved it for its style, edginess and affordability. A year on and the on-line label has gone from strength to strength - so much so it’s launching in John Lewis. I’m so delighted for their success and here are just 3 of my current favourites from their collection.

Beauty products I’ve made a resolution to stick with…

Friday, February 12, 2016
Although I’m a stylist, not a beautician, I am fortunate to meet many experts in the field of skin-care and make-up and am often given new products to trial. The problem with trying a new product is, by the time you’ve read the hype and seen the perfect face of the model advertising it, you can almost convince yourself it’s made a difference from day 1. In reality your skin needs to get used to new products before any visible difference can be seen.

Your alternative to a great white shirt

Friday, February 5, 2016
Now you all know how much I rave about a great white shirt. I adore it – I even designed one It’s sexy, stylish, understated and so versatile. I have at least 10 which I wear endlessly with suits, jeans, leather, under a little black dress, with a statement skirt – you name it – it works. However, I do appreciate that sometimes a white shirt (particularly with black) can feel too corporate at times. So, my new alternative…

It all begins with a conversation about style…

Friday, January 29, 2016
During the first two weeks of January I had the pleasure of meeting 4 women wanting to find out more about my services and how I could help them with their style. Whilst all 4 women were very different in terms of looks, age and shape they all felt:

The ultimate accessory for the season ahead…

Friday, January 22, 2016
As a stylist one of the great perks of my job is being forewarned of new seasons’ trends. So you can imagine my delight when I discovered Gucci’s key accessory for Spring/Summer 16 is the Corsage. As many of you will know I designed a corsage for the Maggie Killick Collection in 2014.

Still looking for sale bargains…then you’re in luck

Friday, January 15, 2016
Firstly, many thanks for your New Year messages from last week’s post. I’ve had a terrific response to the Style Resolutions and am delighted that so many of you have decided this is the year you will make a conscious effort to wear more of what you have. If you need a little help, here are just a few suggestions of how to do it easily:

New Year….New (dare I say it?) You!

Friday, January 8, 2016
Here we are, 2016, and we’ll be inundated with pressure to get new bodies, new personalities, new lives! No wonder 80% of us break resolutions before the end of January. Rather than making a whole host of new resolutions why not give yourself a break and simply make one or two small changes that are achievable.

What to wear on Christmas Day….

Friday, December 11, 2015
Well we all want to feel stylish, effortless and comfortable but on Christmas Day we also want some room! For me the perfect outfit for Christmas Day is the knitted jumper dress. It ticks all the boxes and is such a versatile piece.

Still shopping….some great sale buys especially for you…

Friday, December 11, 2015
As most of you know I’m a firm believer in creating a wardrobe of stunning pieces that will work hard for you and will remain stylish whatever the fashion pack dictate. With many retailers going into early sale, now is a great time to pick up those key pieces that will stand the test of time. Here are just a few items I’ve spotted that will be a fabulous addition to any woman’s wardrobe.

The alternative Christmas Jumper…

Friday, December 4, 2015
Well Christmas is officially here which means festive clothing has arrived. Designers can’t help taking a perfectly fabulous jumper and adding sparkle, sequins or glitter – in some cases all 3! I’ve never really understood why but then I’ve never understood Ugg boots, nude lipstick and onesies so who am I to judge?

Have you checked out All Saints recently?

Friday, November 27, 2015
All Saints is a brand I adore. I’ve introduced many clients to it and they too have become great fans. All Saints gives a cool, quirky edge to the simplest of clothing.

It’s all about what you’re wearing underneath…

Friday, November 20, 2015
The start to looking and feeling good about your body begins with the right underwear. I’m delighted to say I’ve transformed clients’ figures by finding them the right style, fit and brand that works for them.

Holiday rituals…

Friday, November 13, 2015
This week is a particularly special one for me as I’m heading off for a two-week holiday to India. India is a place I have longed to go to from a young age and now is my time - I cannot wait.

The perfect Christmas gift – without the hassle…

Friday, November 6, 2015
Its official - the Christmas madness has begun. Lights have been turned on; supermarkets are selling bizarre miniature food; shops are playing carols whilst selling glittery clothing AND it’s only the 6th of November!

When over-the-top is just right…

Friday, October 30, 2015
You may have noticed over-the-knee boots are everywhere this Autumn/Winter. As a stylist I’m often asked for my opinion on them. I love them - well, I love some of them! It’s really about choosing the right style and sticking to a few guidelines to ensure the overall look is cool, sexy and effortless rather than Dick Whittington!

Choose red - the perfect finishing touch….

Friday, October 23, 2015
I called a clothing store this week and when I gave them my name – they replied – “Are you the Kingston stylist with the red lips”! It made me smile. When I began wearing red lipstick at the age of 18 I had no idea it would become my trademark years later.

The ultimate accessory for your winter wardrobe….

Friday, October 16, 2015
As many of you know I’m a real fan of Autumn/Winter: oversized knitwear, long suede boots, fabulous coat – job done! In preparation for winter I tend to buy early to avoid disappointment. Very often, if I really love something, I will buy in advance for my clients too. Luckily I know what they’ll love and they trust me to purchase on their behalf.

The wardrobe staple that never lets you down

Friday, October 9, 2015
Part of my job as a stylist is to help women achieve a stylish look in the simplest way possible. The key to this is having staple pieces in your wardrobe that you can rely on, that are versatile and will make you feel amazing whenever and however you choose to wear them.

Uniquely designed jewellery you will fall in love with…

Friday, September 25, 2015
As many of you will know my style is relatively simple which is why I love statement jewellery. It can do the same for clothing as great shoes. It can add a twist to a classic; it can add edge to something pretty; it can make your clothing individual.

The Maggie Killick Made in England Collection is celebrating….

Friday, September 18, 2015
Yes, September marks the first anniversary of “The Collection”. It’s hard to believe it is a year since the launch (for full footage click here) and I would personally like to thank everyone who has contributed to its success. Whether you have rocked, raved or recommended it (or all three) I have been overwhelmed by the response. It’s been described as “stunning”, “amazing” “stylishly understated”. So I feel there’s only one thing to do – celebrate with a rich bordeaux!

Your Autumn Preview for a stunning Season ahead

Friday, September 11, 2015
Welcome back to the Style Post and to those of you who are new to my weekly blog – I’m delighted you’ve joined us. My aim is that these brief posts will inspire you to try new looks, enjoy what you wear and above all encourage you to feel good about your own unique style. So let’s begin.

Breaking up for Summer

Friday, July 31, 2015
As the style post takes a short break for summer (returning 11th September ) I wanted to leave you with 3 things : inspiration; a reminder and a thank you.

How to pack less and stay stylish on your holidays

Friday, July 24, 2015
Recently a lovely client of mine thanked me for making packing “so effortless”. Apparently she packed for a week’s holiday with just hand-luggage! I was so delighted – I always am when I can make someone’s life easier. I was also amazed as, despite being a stylist, I still tend to struggle when it comes to packing for holidays.

What to do on those days when nothing feels good on you?

Friday, July 17, 2015
Have you ever had one of those days where you’re convinced nothing looks good on you? An outfit that you loved last week (and received so many compliments on) somehow just doesn’t feel the same on you today. It’s bizarre, it’s irrational but it happens.

What does it take to be a Style Icon?

Friday, July 10, 2015
This week I plan to visit the National Portrait Gallery to see the photography exhibition in honour of the great style icon of all time, Audrey Hepburn. This got me thinking - what makes someone a style icon?

The one item all women should own…

Friday, July 3, 2015
As a stylist, one of the questions I’m continually asked is “What’s the one item you think every woman should have in their wardrobe?” My answer remains the same whatever season, whatever trend - “a fabulous white shirt”.

A jewellery brand you will love – timeless, bold and original

Friday, June 26, 2015
Most women I know fall into distinct categories when it comes to their choice of jewellery: gold or silver; costume or real jewels. Whichever you prefer there is no doubt the simplest outfit can be brought to life with a stunning piece of jewellery.

Heading for the sales? Think beyond the summer months…

Friday, June 19, 2015
The sales are in full swing which means there’s no better time to give you a little advice when hitting the stores:

To ensure your sale shopping trip is successful:
Be comfortable (and stylish obviously) – dress in clothing that is easy to take on and off
Wear good underwear that enhances your shape - it will make the world of difference
Wear a little make-up – you’ll be constantly seeing your reflection in the changing room!

The ultimate summer accessory that is versatile, stylish and always fits!

Friday, June 12, 2015
I am looking at expanding my collection and have been talking to someone who may possibly make me a handbag – yes a “Maggie Killick Style original” from my poorly drawn sketch! I’ll keep you updated on progress in future posts.

There is no age limit when it comes to looking stylish

Friday, May 29, 2015
Three things happened last week that made me think about style and the ageing process.
Firstly - I was in the ladies of a trendy bar (yes I can still do trendy bars!) and overheard a girl saying to her friend “I’m dreading next week – I’ll be 27 – I feel so old”!
Secondly - I was contacted by a wonderful lady of 67 who enquired whether she was too old to book my wardrobe and shopping experience!

Looking effortless, cool and casual - all for a worthy cause

Thursday, May 14, 2015
A short Style Post this week but nonetheless a heart-felt one to say a huge thank you to those who have ordered my pink silk blouse in aid of Break-through for Breast Cancer. There’s no question you’ll feel beautiful and sexy wearing it but knowing your purchase results in a donation to such a worthy cause will make it all the more special. If the silk blouse is not for you (I can’t believe it won’t be!) why not check out other items on www.fashiontargetsbreastcancer.org.uk .

Wedding Season is here – bring on the stylish wedding guests….

Thursday, May 14, 2015
Yes wedding season is here. I know this because the high-street stores are packed with floral print dresses, matching fascinators, matching bags, matching shoes – if they can match it – they will! Fashion magazines are also full of rules on what you should and shouldn’t wear as a guest – and you know what I think about too many rules!

The perfect silk blouse in a stunning new colour

Friday, May 1, 2015
When I was deciding what pieces to design for my clothing line I knew a beautiful silk blouse would be part of it. Those I had seen on the high-street were either poor quality, clingy, see-through and/or so delicate they were impossible to wear without snagging. The perfect blouse needed to feel exquisite to wear, look effortless, sexy, understated – YES all of those things - so I gave up my search and created my own.

How to feel better about expensive style mistakes

Friday, April 24, 2015
I feel incredibly fortunate to work with great clients. They have many things in common: they’re bright, funny, kind and clearly, incredibly stylish. They also love a bargain (who doesn’t?) and have all, prior to meeting me(!) made expensive mistakes regarding clothing.

The spring coat is practical, wearable and effortlessly stylish – do you have one (or several?)

Thursday, April 16, 2015
Usually women love one particular item of clothing above all others - for me it’s a great coat. The main reason is it’s the quickest and easiest way to look stylish. If I’m pushed for time I can wear the simplest outfit then throw on a gorgeous coat and I’m sorted.

Do you have the essentials for your Spring/Summer Wardrobe?

Thursday, April 9, 2015
Many of the fabulous women I meet find dressing for summer difficult and I can see why. Summer clothes can be unforgiving, made of cheap fabric and, unless accessorised with glowing, sun-kissed skin, can be tricky to wear! Over the years, I have learnt many things to make summer dressing easier – far too much for one style post.

The clocks have moved forward - have you?

Wednesday, April 1, 2015
Spring is finally here (and the weather will realise this soon enough!). As clichéd as it sounds I love this time of year – it’s about new beginnings, fresh starts and so I feel it’s an ideal time to review the style post responses and see where we’ve all got to.

When style becomes complicated, turn to black and white: clean, simple and effortlessly stylish

Friday, March 27, 2015
You may remember, from my Fashion Week Style Post, monochrome featured heavily on the catwalk which means it will be hugely popular for Spring/Summer. The advantage of black and white is that each piece is a wardrobe staple...

Flawless, youthful, glamorous – A brand that can give you all 3

Friday, March 20, 2015
This week I had the pleasure of meeting a fabulous client for a make-up session (as part of my finishing touches service). I may not be a make-up artist but as a stylist have worked with some of the best who have been incredibly generous in sharing their expertise with me.

The shoes you wear say so much about you – what do you want yours to say?

Friday, March 13, 2015
Shoes are my guilty pleasure. I love them for many reasons: they give me confidence; they improve my posture and shape; they can make the simplest outfit special and, above all, they make me feel good – wherever I’m headed. Just this week I stepped out in my new French Connection strappy ‘lipstick’ pair.

What we loved about London Fashion Week-end Spring/Summer 2015

Friday, March 6, 2015
The fashion pack were out in force at Somerset House last week. Together with Abigail, (a ‘fashion journalist in the making) we took ourselves off to meet them. The day was manic but great fun.

The effortless trouser style that may well surprise you

Friday, February 27, 2015
Word on the fashion street is “wide leg trousers are back”. In my world – they never went away. From the old school sassiness of Katharine Hepburn to the modern-day striking style of Tilda Swinton, wide leg trousers are an effortless way to look cool whilst remaining (dare I say) comfy!
